I've been wanting to try this fragrance based on reviews I've read and of course it's virtually impossible to get a sample of.
Does anyone wear this scent? It's not an expensively priced fragrance but it sounds lovely.

Oh yes I know this one. I wore it for a long time right after it first came out. I did love it and apparently others did too. I once had a gentleman "stalk" me all around a huge airport just to sheepishly ask what my perfume was! yes, it was the Albert Nipon.
Have you tried some of our most trusted etailers for this scent? I am sure that I have seen it a number of times.
Just checked Perfume Bay--they have it...
http://www.perfumebay.com/women-s-a-albert...-for-women.htmlImagination has it for $12.99 for a full ounce of the EDT---great price. May have to order some myself!

Thanks for your response! What does it smell like? Any similarities to anything else?
I guess it is cheap enough to just buy it w/o sniffing...but I promised myself I wouldn't do that anymore!
That is how I aquired Antelope and didn't like it.
Interesting story about the man wanting to know the fragrance!
Very funny!

I wore this years ago, and I got lots of compliments on it. That was back in the 80's, when it was politically correct to actually wear fragrance.
I won't say that it smells like Youth Dew, but if you like that *type* of fragrance, I think Albert Nipon will appeal to you. There are no harsh or sharp or ozonic notes. It's a woodsy, kind of oriental fragrance, but not spicy like Opium or Cinnabar. I've never smelled the original Tuvara by Tuvache, but I have tried the LLP version, and that's another one that I think falls under the same category as Albert Nipon.

personally Albert Nipon was quite a character.....
http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1:4806903/Al...efid=ency_botnmhttp://www.philly.com/mld/philly/business/...en/10991868.htmHis scent is described as fresh mossy aldehydic
Topnotes include bergamot, aldehydes, fruits
Midnotes carnation, jasmin other flowers and cinnamon ( thus a spicy floral heart)
Base amber, vanilla, patchouli, cedarwood, leather, benzoin, musk, moss
for me the base says it all - not for the faint of heart, not for those who cannot work with all that balsamic ambery richness....one needs to be able to connect with all this furry moss and spice with a skin that can tone it down and also an emotional background that loves being surrounded by all that animal sensuality.
Similar but NOT the same as Mitsouko. Just referencing a more popular scent to give you an idea.

The scent that this most closely resembles IMO is Youth Dew. It IS quite strong and I remember it had great lasting power and sillage.
I am familiar with Antilope by Weil and this is nothing like it.
I can tell by the bottle design that this has been "redone" and I have not tried the newer versions. The one I wore came in the frosted glass bottle with the bow. I need to try the newer version and see what its like.
Some GREAT comments here--I am one who LOVES the woody, mossy fragrances so this one appealed to me at the time. I am almost afraid to try the later version.

not all Nipon "purists" like the present edition
biggest issue-- it does not last!!!!
Consider -----
oakmoss is being or has been listed on the 'do not use' list of ingredients and nature identical ingredients are now in use.
some of these unavailable ingredients were significant parts of the whole
maybe the issuing company cannot afford the quality of oils that could replicate the original.
It is very difficult to continue making some of the older scents when so many of the ingredients in those original scents are no longer available for use.
AND
How many of today's perfume manufacturers are truly concerned about making scents of yesterday without "updating" the formula to make it more attractive to today's consumers.
Apparently they feel the original user group is too small a market.

I was lucky enough to find a bottle of this at a rummage sale for a great price:-)
I remembered it from the late 70's early 80's and thought I'd take a risk for such a small price. It reminds me a lot of a "not so in your face" Obsession. Another one from the same era it is similar to is KL from Karl Lagerfeld. I believe KL is also discontinued?

Very potent, spicy, floral with outdoorsy elements. I remember it, quite well . . . the ads used to say, 'wear it forever.' At one time, I was a big fan of Albert Nipon garments. They followed Saint Laurent's lines, quite closely . . . then, the company ran into tax troubles. Their collections have never been the same, since. Still, if you look . . . you can find some nice, Nipon examples. Neiman's carries them. Anyone remember the show, PHYLLIS?? Cloris Leachman was dressed by Albert Nipon, during that series' run. She always looked very elegant.

Wow what a knowlegeable group!
Sillage I only HOPE to be as energetic as Albert Nipon in my 70's...many decades away of course (ahem...)
Armanis I always thought Phyllis looked great on the show!
After all the interesting comments I will definitely have to try to come up with a sample or maybe just break down and buy it!
Wondering...is it also similar to Interlude by FD? That reminds me of YD also.
Thanks!

Thanks for the info on the Nipon line, Armanis. Now I know why I liked them so much. I still have a few dress patterns from the Vogue Nipon line and feel they are so classic and elegant that the styles will always be appropriate.

Sillage you answered my question. I am certain that the formula I remember is NOT what is presently being marketed. I am seeing some of the original formula still available. I guess I can hope that there is some of the original left that may have held up well over time.
