Click to view attachmentFor me, it's the signal that summer is on the way out, autumn is fast approaching; Labor Day is one final flirt with everything summer means.

So what'll it be, at your Labor Day picnics? Hotdogs, or burgers? I won't turn down either one, a couple of times a year . . . but for me, there's nothing like a really juicy cheeseburger, medium, on a toasted bun with all the trimmings. What's your Labor Day, preference?

Yes, I will join you in that burger, Mietros! And I would like baked beans with bacon on top, German potato salad, key lime pie and ice cold lemonade. HEAVEN!!!

I have the BEST recipe that Paula Deen had on her show for baked beans with pineapple in them and those fried onion rings from a can on top with crispy bacon! To die for!

I also love potatoe salad..........nobody makes it anymore but there's nothin like a GOOD potatoe salad. OR macaroni salad with burgers and hot dogs.
(BEER BATTERED SABRETTES!!) with sour kraut.

Neither, unfortunately. Scheduled to work on Labor Day this year, alas. May celebrate the day after though.

What a burger, Armanis!
A bit off topic but McCormick & Schmick has a happy hour where they offer bar food, including a great burger, for $1.95.

Nobody makes potato salad anymore?? I make it.

I'm not having hamburgers or hotdogs. We're doing spicy shrimp on the grill, and maybe some scallops.

Love the seafood. Much more apatizing........than burgers and hot dogs.

One of the joys of life is a medium rare to rare hamburger - where the juice runs down my arms as I eat it - on a good bun or kaiser roll with lots of raw onion on top. I'll take steak fries or matchstick fries with it (although I really would prefer homefries) some coleslaw with lots of celery seed and a coke.

I haven't eaten a hot dog in years - except for some that were a gift and sent to me on dry ice from Allens. The skin was too think on those gourmet dogs. I really should indulge in a junky one that's full of chemicals and animal parts I don't want to know about but that tastes great.

On Labor Day we have steamed clams and lobsters dipped in drawn butter. Sweet

I'll be at the State Fair, indulging in such gluttony as only comes round once a year.

There's a Blooming Onion with ranch sauce out there, with my name on it Washed down with a fresh- squeezed lemonade . (Much) later, on the way out, a pint of ice cream, and a caramel apple to go.

By tradition, hot dogs, baked beans and potato salad. I like my hot dogs burned. Seriously, I make DH put a little char on mine. Odd, yes.

Oh, those Paula Deen baked beans sound delish.

I'm really picky about hamburgers. I like them really lean to the point that they can be a little dry...but I simply offset this dryness with copious amounts of various condiments. Namely: ketchup, mayo and tons of pickles. I love potato and mac salad but my biggest love: homemade coleslaw. Oh, baby!!!
