Tom Cruise and Brooke Shields have made up and are reportedly friends again. Cruise still believes drugs are bad but he says he regrets having publicly commented on Brooke Shields:

Brooke Shields accepted the apology. I feel it's credible because he didn't claim to have changed his views, which would seem insincere.

Your take?

VelvetSky
I'm glad he apologized. She deserved one from him.

Brooke was on Leno last night and mentioned that Cruise visted her at home and had dinner with her and her husband.
It seemed as if a truce had been made and they were on friendly terms.

I saw the Leno show. Brooke's husband made tomato and basil omelets.

It's always a good thing when people apologize and I'm glad he did. But why oh why did it take so long? And wouldnt it have been nicer if it occured before he lost his contract? I hate to be so cynical, but I can't help it. I think Tom FINALLY got the message that his wacko behavior is hurting his career and the damage control is now in full spin.
Rosebud
He's owed her one for quite awhile now.

Glad he apologized, even if it is just spin control. And also I wish he would get on the air and tell all women with PPD that he's sorry and that PPD is REAL and to get help if you need it!

I heard that TC didn't actually lose his contract; that he had arranged a tentative deal with a hedge fund to finance future distribution of his films before the contract renewal negotiations with Redstone even began. Redstone couldn't/wouldn't match the deal so he put the "firing" spin out to save face.

The fact is that TC is the most bankable star in the biz as the two films he made last year had a worldwide gross of just less than $1 BILLION. So much for a fading career.

That said, I think that it was thoughtless of him to make those comments regarding BS and that the apology was too long in coming.

Most interesting, Tommaso. Since Mr. Cruise still makes highly successful films, why do you suppose Redstone, wouldn't come across? It does sound like they took the opportunity to dump him, do you agree?

Good thing he did so, she deserved one from him..... but he's still a JERK!

It was all about the Benjamins. TC had such an incredible deal that it made it hard for Paramount to make much money off of his movies. Paramount demanded some givebacks and TC refused, opting to go it as an independent. The hedge funds are invading Hollywood, investing everywhere and TC will have no shortage of suitors vying to finance his films. Here's a piece from the FT.

Very interesting article, Tommaso. Thanks for posting that. It would appear that the flaky image is just that, with a very astute businessman underneath!

Headspinning text. Another vivid example of what the seductions of greed and power, can produce. Great piece, Tommaso. Thanks!

It's show BUSINESS. As long as you make money, it doesn't matter what else you do.
