I'm glad Katie had a chance to clear up some of those silly, hurtful rumors. You'd think the public would know by now that it's a tabloid tactic to attack to get a reaction to sell more rags.

She was born April 18, but I don't know when the photos were taken. It must have been tough for all concerned to keep such a big secret. Heads would have rolled at VF, I'm guessing.

I find the baby PER SE cute (like most babies, btw), i like mostbabies with lots of hair! But i have pity with her also, because she won't lead a cool childhood, how things are looking...

I also wondered about her age... she looks already grown! Like an almost one year old or so...

I do not think that most babies are cute but I DO think that Suri IS. And I too love that full head of dark hair.

I posted this on another board....I never think babies are cute but I am very happy to hear she is healthy and the family is together.

WHat I can't figure out is if they put a toupee on her head??? That black think on her head looks fake and doesn't match the fringe/bang on her forehead.

The writer(?) from Vanity Fair was on The Today Show and GMA. Said she spent five days with them, every door was open, they answered every question. You can read VF for all the details. Both Tom's and Katie's families were there. It was a lively, busy, happy household with loads of activities. Tom and Katie had very little help in the house, they are very hands on, his kids also helped with the baby. The writer said T & K are planning the wedding, which she thinks will happen very soon, but she wasn't privy to those details.

They did the photo shoot for FREE at the end of July. They wanted it to be about Suri. Katie said she was very hurt about the rumors and speculation about their entire family and you can't blame her, can you? There are some very sick, cruel, jealous people out there who can't bear to see anyone else happy because their own little lives are so miserable. They should be ashamed of themselves.

You can be sure this was VERY carefully orchestrated to give whatever impression TC wanted to give. Wealthy people in general, and even more so for the very famous, do not raise their kids themselves, so their being "hands-on" was most likely for show - just another performance for these actors.

The kid is cute though. What her chances are of growing up mentally healthy and happy and whole in the spotlight and with those two for parents and the Scientology and all...?

I definitely think this dispels rumors of Suri not being theirs, the likeness is extremely close, especially when compared to baby pictures of the parents. She isn't really cute in a gerber-baby way, but she is definitely an attractive baby...not the type I'd secretly feel sorry for at daycare!

Why can't you be nice? Those people think the world of you.

Haha....Ellen makes a good point in that I wouldn't think for a hot second that tabloids spin but Vanity Fair and Cruise's press team et al do not. No, I'm not suggesting some conspiracy about the parentage of the baby, but merely saying that slamming the tabloids and then taking VF as some authority might be ill-advised. I'm gonna say it: that's not an entirely cute baby. Not hideous, either, but I'm not one that thinks all babies are cute. Some definitely are a little fug in the first months.

This pic is alot better. I'm sure she is precious and a delight as all babies are, but I'm not prepared to say that she's adorable..

Suri Cruise IS adorable!! She looks like her parents. And her hair looks real to me--a lot of the babies I know that have been born with black hair have been born with a LOT of black hair. In fact, a friend of mine just gave birth to a little girl with almost as much hair as little Suri!

Cute as a button, I say.

I thought that pic (in the link above) was the photo-shopped Asian baby.

PS The real baby on the cover of VF looks very much like TC and that hair is very normal for a young baby - My first son had a shock of black hair which all fell out at around 6 months of age and he ended up with straight blond hair.

I think she's cute. And some babies have that much hair. Both of mine were on the bald side but that's common with blonds. I think she has Holmes' turned-down eyes.

If she had brown eyes she would look bang on like my baby pic and like my youngest child as , especially the hair and the eye shape.

In all honesty I'm not seeing Tom Cruise in her (not that I'm conjecturing about parentage), but she is definately Katie's baby in looks to me. I was born with quite a bit of hair, so no problem in thinking that is her hair.

I was born with a shock of black hair too, so it's told. My (late) father said I was tall and thin with black hair and reminded him of Abraham Lincoln.

I think she leans a little more to the Dad's side of the house, but there's also a lot of the Mom in her. She's very, very cute, IMO, but look at her parents -- they're both good-looking people, let's face it. If they weren't, they wouldn't be American movie stars.

What a precious baby girl...and not because of who she is....she just an beautiful baby. My youngest son had a lot of long black hair when he was a baby and it was like strands of silk. I saw Larry King live interviewing the editor of Vanity Fair and thought it to be a nice interview, and hopefully Suri will be able to have as near normal life as is possible. Perhaps her father's hasn't been much of a gentlemen (you know what I mean), but Suri is just a normal sweet baby girl. The pictures show the tender expression that all new parents have with their new baby.
