As a rule, I hate buying magazines. I think they are paying to be advertised to, for the most part. A do find that there a couple that have great articles and they tend to be mags geared towards men like Esquire and Vanity Fair. I've been buying the loathsome things lately because I've taken to using the cardio machines at my gym and time crawls at an agonizing rate if I don't have something juicy to read. I digress..
So I grabbed the new VF that's got the Cruise family pictorial and I have to say that the baby has a certain something that's really attractive. She's not conventionally a gorgeous baby, but she does have very sparkly eyes and a bright smile. Also, Tom looks really genuinely the proud daddy in the photos. I didn't get that any of it was anything less than genuine. I realize he's an actor but I think this family man thing might be the real deal, folks. Check out the pics if you have a chance. there is one large pic near the end of the thing that is just little Suri with a huge smile and it's quite fetching.

I have seen the issue, Sharilstuff. Suri is her own little person. No matter what her parents are up to, she does, as you say, have a presence. She doesn't look like she'll be easy to manipulate or draw into murky designs. She looks inherently unconfused. I get the feeling she will love them both and help them with her clarity and strength. How mysterious is life!

She's a cutie and seems to look a lot like both of her parents!

She's adorable, a real cutie pie!!
And I can see both her parents in her, perhaps a little more Mom than Dad.

Cut the crap...we all know you've got subs to National Enquirer, Star, Globe, Okay, US and In Touch.
And anyway...aliens abducted Katy during her pregnancy and Suri is the lovechild of K-Pax. Really. Everyone knows.

She really is quite fetching - I especially loved the one of the three of them on the mountain top. - there is something in her expression that just reached out to me.

No subscriptions, but my gym regularly has the lastest People, US...these type...so I get a smut fix for free. Actually, it's far from free as gym dues keep climbing. For scathing comments about celebs, I really go for the GoFugYourself site. I find tearing the celebs' ensembles to shreds with some evil commentary on their behavior in general MUCH for satisfying than alien sightings and mere speculation on their lives. Uh huh.

Susan I have subscriptions to Star, the National Enquirer, Us and People (among many other publications) - no foolin'! - I know it's trashy but sometimes you want lobster thermidor and sometimes you want a greasy cheeseburger with fries, y'know? 'S'all good.
I read EVERYTHING. Books, magazines, professional journals, manga, graphic novels, chick-lit, young adult lit, true crime, textbooks, newspapers, biographies, romance, history, mysteries, children's books, science fiction, religious material, literature, poetry, how-to, song lyrics, gum wrappers, tattoos, billboards...EV-ER-Y-THING.
I love the expression on Miss Suri's face on the VF cover photo. Such a direct, confident look from such a young person!

So someone here tell me I'm crazy, but I just saw that cover pic of the Family and bite me if
I'm imagining it, but it looked like the baby had this dark black wiglet covering her real hair (which
seemed to be peeking out from underneath, and was actually a light to medium brunette). Sooo
is the baby wearing a wiglet (for incognito purposes?) or has the photo been photo-shopped -- again
for purposes of disguising what the baby really looks like...? Someone either corroborate or tell me
I'm seeing things....

That's very typical of "baby hair" - my son had thick black curls which stood up in a mohawk like style and then an undergrowth of blond hair that came in and completely replaced all the dark hair. Often a baby will be born with a thick mop of hair which will seem to get rubbed off at around 6 months and be replaced with a completely different color and texture hair ... just like their eye color can change dramatically from deep blue to dark brown.

Hi Deme ~~
I know that !! Mine (daughter's) came in with dark red hair and that fell out and was replaced by
strawberry blonde... But there seems to be this 'line of demarcation...lol' between the thick black
stuff on top and the light auburn wispy stuff 'peeking' out from underneath .... seems phony.

I read the mag on the plane. Boring article. Much ado about nothing.
It's obvious that the photos were all very carefully staged, set up and shot. All very Hollywood-esque. No spontanaity in any of the faces.

I guess what I was saying .... so maybe they put a little 'disguise' on the kid -- for whatever reasons ...
the L Rons wanted to put a tinfoil tent on the baby's head .... and they all settled on a wiglet instead.
It's better than a sheet and being dangled over a parapet, for sure.

Somehow I doubt Annie Leibovitz would allow that to happen.

I'm personally giggling over the word "wiglet". Not sure why but it strikes me that way.
I agree with Velvet that the article was a predictable whiney snoozer and the shots did seem overly set up and trite. I was just surprised that I found the baby so appealing. Do you think she'll "out" her creepy dad when she's a rebellious teenager, or will he have something written up by his lawyers that she can't, somehow?

that's why I used the word, Sharil --- 'Wiglet' a wittle wig for a wittle person ....
Re: being outed by one's offspring.... hard to say. Recently there was an expose on the L Ron Hubbards
in Rolling Stone and a photo of Beck and another 'young' actor/artist female type --- They were both
born into the religion..... and (presumably) are happy 2nd generation little scientologists. I wish I could
remember who the girl is ....ohhh maybe Juliette Lewis ? That's it I think. Here's a funny thought ...
"I'm a lapsed Scientologist..." I fell away right after highschool.....

Well, don't they call people that have fallen out but still categorize themselves in a certain religion for example a "Jack Catholic" or "Jack Mormon" (I hope that's not a dirty term. I don't think it is)
Well, I went on a blind date with this guy that was aaall wrong for me, and he was recounting his new age religious experiences...how he was into Wicca for a time and what-not. Well, I was ranting to another friend about being set up with this fella and I called him a "Jack Wiccan" to be cute and my friend nearly dropped the phone laughing.
So I guess there can be Jack Scientologists, although that doesn't have a good ring to it, you know.
