Full Version: Depeche Mode!
Perfume of Life > A Civilized Perfume Affair > Talk About The Arts

Any other fans of Depeche Mode? I have every cd and just about every single they've ever release. Lots of vinyl! Some of the things I've acquired, are real collectors items. I've always had the biggest crush on Andrew Fletcher...haha. What cutie...and still is! I just love, love, love their music. I was listening to Leave In Silence on the way home from work yesterday.....just incredible.

Yes Clay, I'm a fan, I just love them. My favorite DM song is "A Question Of Lust".
ForTheLoveofMando
I'm still a big fan of their old stuff too here as well. My two faves are "Shake The Disease" (the Remixed/Long Version) and Question of Lust (too like Besotted!). I love lots of their other stuff too. These come to mind most quickest.

They bring back a lot of memories to me of lying on my bed and listening to them in my room as a teenager on K-ROQ, that once great radio station that used to be in Pasadena, CA when I was living back in So.Califorina. Memories!
Strange_Accord
I consider them among the top ten musical groups of the last 50 years. Their work is supurb!

Love DM!! Mando, I know what you mean about KROQ. The station was good I think up until about 1993. I was a freshman in high school when I first started listening to the station and they actually played good music. Now that station is crap!

LOVE THEM!
Favorite songs:
Sea of Sin
Enjoy the Silence
Never Let Me Down Again

and a lot more but can't think right now. I agree, they are one of the great bands of the 80's/90's
rococo
Count me in, I love them too! (Although sometimes I wish they'd just do an instrumental track, and skip the lyrics. I love the complexity of their music!)
InDulciJubilo
Instrumental would be cool, but Dave Gahan's voice is just so sexy, to me. I'm listening to But Not Tonight, right now. I love this track.

Me, of course!

My favourite songs are:

People are People
Shake the disease
Master and servant
Everything counts
Never let me down
Personal Jesus
Somebody
In your room
Rush
The bottom line
Suffer well
Lilian

and a lot of others...

I especially love the 3-pieces CD with all the remixes which was published 2005. There are a lot of cover versions of DM songs which really are good. For example on "For the Masses" (1998), on this CD there are a lot of jewels to find: The Cure, Rammstein. Locust, The Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt etc. pp.

I also am a big fan of Martin L. Gore's solo projects. Does anyone know his version of "In a manner of speaking" (Counterfeit)? It's just fabulous, he might not have the looks like Dave (for my taste) but he surely is the significant other of DM. Of course i also loved Dave's Paper Monsters....

Elisha, I'm glad you remember the golden years of K-ROQ like I do. I miss those good ol'days. They played such great music back in the day. Depeche Mode were like the most played artists of theirs at the time too.

So many other great songs from them too mentioned: Sea of Sin, But Not Tonight, Question of Time (the extended version), Remotivate Me, I Feel You (all the remixes of this one), Personal Jesus, Somebody, etc....

I agree one of the best underrated musical groups of the last decade. Martin Gore was a musical god/genius with all the great music he wrote for them!
ForTheLoveofMando
I have a copy of Martin Gore's version of "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven, B-Side of one of their songs, I can't remember which one and it's just beautiful. I love to listen to it when I'm feeling melancholy here. Martin is such a gifted keyboard/piano player!!!
InDulciJubilo
Martin is also a great guitarist....even Johnny Cash thought so.

Johnny Cash thought that, How cool. Martin is just a genius musically, I agree!

Yes I do, Elisha, VERY WELL here!!!

Elisha, Remember an old t.v. dance show that played on Channel 9, I think, called MV3 (Richard Blade hosted it with some other gal or gals), they used to have bands play on there (The Bangles, Wall of Voodoo, The Three O'Clock, Trio, etc....play on there) and dancers and show cool old 80's videos!! I used to watch it religiously after school till it came off the air after a year or so. It was so much fun. Everyone was so funny looking/dressed wise thinking about it back now in retrospect. But it was so much fun to watch and brings back so many memories. Would love to see it again but I'm sure, like they'd resurrect an old defunct, no longer valid old t.v. dance show, right?

I love the 80's, even if it was so gaudy, tacky and frivolous. That's what the whole decade was all about! Frivolous!![b] That's what made it so great and fun to be a teenager back then to me!

I don't know, Dawn, I wonder what happened to him too. I used to listen religiously every Sunday night to Rodney on The ROQ too long ago as well. I had a friend of mine in school that told me I sounded like him whenever I talked to her on the phone back in high school, LOL!!! There was some documentary on Rodney called "King of the Sunset Strip" a while ago, a few years back. I hadn't seen it yet. Sort of putting off cause I think it would be sad to see what's become of him.

I used to see him every year whenever my brother and I used to go to Beatlefest at the Bonnaventure Hotel in Downtown L.A. Loved going there for this convention, it was FUN!

He used to have an entourage of cool looking 60's dressed gals around his arms and stuff. He seemed like a really nice down to earth guy from what I got. I loved his show and that main theme song of his he always used to open up the show, "This Could Be the Night". Plus remember that ol' song, "Pajama Party" from Venus Plus Unit!!! I have downloaded somewhere. Brings back memories like you don't know! LOL!!
