Oh, sad news. I remember watching him in Ripley's Believe it or Not series. He had the right voice for those strange oddities.

Jack Palance had a home close to where I live. I believe there was an auction recently, so I assumed he had moved.
There is a restaurant about 15 minutes from us...a very popular spot, especially during the summer, since it is on the water. I can remember being there with my husband and in walked Jack Palance. He was dressed in a white suit. Very striking.
Another time, years ago, my husband(who was not my husband at the time) and I were having coffee in one of the local malls. Jack Palance walked right by us and into Zayres. He was wearing a flannel shirt, old jeans and boots. We said "hello" and he smiled and said "hello" back. It was not uncommon for him to just appear at the local spots in town.Because everyone knew he lived nearby, there was never a big fuss made, and I think that's one of the reasons he liked this area.

I loved Jack. He had a very unique presence. Here's a clip of Jack that shows his spirit.I loved Jack. He had a very unique presence. Here's a clip of Jack that shows his spirit.

I remember how he stayed extraordinarily physically fit, even until old age. Remember his one-handed push-ups?

Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentI was very, very fond of Jack Palance. Loved him. He starred opposite Joan Crawford, in one of her finest films: SUDDEN FEAR. For once, Joan didn't devour her leading man, whole. I loved him in the Mongols, as well . . . now THAT'S a movie that needs to make the television airings, one more time. Haven't seen it, for thirty years, at least . . . if ever you get the chance, to see The Mongols . . . don't give it up!! Anita Ekberg, co-stars . . . violent, savage, disturbing film. Jack Palance portray, Genghis Khan's son . . . Ogedie . . .

Those cheekbones and that twinkly smile!
Will miss him.

You that Jack Palance participated in WWII; his face was burned horribly in an accident of some kind. That's why he looked the way he did. If you haven't seen Sudden Fear, try to get hold of it. Exciting, offbeat movie. A little off the wall, but hugely entertaining.

I had such a crush on him back in the day. He was one handsome geezer.

Did you know he wrote poetry?
I met him a few years ago at a party following the premier of a movie (one of those comedies with Billy Crystal). He was pleasant, but quiet and kept to himself.

Yes, I knew about the poetry . . . how interesting Boxwood, that you met JP!! He was very tall, isn't that so? Around six foot four? Have you seen Sudden Fear? If not, you need to . . . Palance was nominated for an Oscar, opposite Joan Crawford. The Mongols, is another . . . must see!!

I don't remember much about his height. I mainly remember observing him, later, leaning over a balcony, hands clasped, watching others.

Click to view attachmentI can see him, in that position, Boxwood! What a magnetic countenance! Mr. Palance was superb, in the classic Western, from George Stevens: SHANE. Another one of my favorite films.
