Definitely an acquired taste. I couldn't stand it as a child, and now as an adult, I love it. I've eaten a bagful of the Brach's autumn mix (candy corn, Indian corn, mellocreme pumpkins) in the past few days. I love Brach's candy corn, nothing else will do. Anyone else with me, or am I alone in my love for this much-reviled candy?

Hi Reiha. This a favorite topic that pops up every year on POL. I always look forward to this discussion! :)
Here's last year's:
http://perfumeoflife.org/index.php?s=&...st&p=146573Yes, I love it. Yes, Brachs is the best, in all it's forms. Mmmmmmm....caaaandy corn. You're definitely not alone!

Ah, yes, the annual Candy Corn Debate!
Last year I held firm on the "pro-corn" side. Last year was also remarkable, however, in that I did not succumb to a candy corn purchase.
I've slid over to Licorice Allsorts (Bassett) as my drug of choice.

I believe candy corn is best alone, I've never had it with peanuts...the taste must be strange, salty and too sweet.

Candy corn is so great... does anyone else bite the pale tips off? That's my favorite part. I have to enjoy them in sections.
I'm also a huge fan of maple candies, Brach's "Goodies" are one tasty example. Candy makes me very tired, unfortunately. I tend toward a high protein diet, so it's probably my pancreas shouting "Why?!"

LOL, Lauren I do that. Three nibbles, tip, middle, bottom. Sometimes when I'm feeling contrary I'll do it the other way, from the bottom up.
Those Maple Nut Goody things are some other serious candy crack.

In Denmark we are slowly importing Halloween, so I hope that some day candy corn will be available here too.

Yes indeedy. We loves our maple treatsies. And I eat my candy corn in sections as well.
Haven't tried mixing them with peanuts; that sounds delish.

Eh.
I wish they made special jelly beans for fall. That would be my seasonal candy.
Actually, I just looked at the jelly belly website. The 40-flavor box is not special to the season (unless you count the packaging), but they do have got pomegranate jelly beans available right now, which sound fantastic. And-- whoa-- they're vitamin C and antioxidant fortified? That's kind of wrong.

Anita, that sounds divine, with the salted peanuts, to cut the sweet. But alas being diabetic and teeth not as strong or healthy won't allow me to enjoy this....

Speaking of candy corn in September is like wearing white after Labor Day. It just shouldn't be done. One shouldn't buy it until October 1st, at the earliest. It should never be consumed before October 28 or after November 4.
The candy corn season is VERY short. You people obviously have no breeding.

Sans doubt, dahling. But it comes in earlier in some parts of the country, especially here in the Midwest. In Detroit, always a beacon of taste, one simply wouldn't be caught dead without the stuff from, oh, now until after Thanksgiving. This may have a teensy bit to do with our celebrated lack of willpower; no one here could imagine buying candy corn on October 1st and actually being able to wait until the 28th to eat it. Well, I couldn't imagine it, anyway.
I understand the stunted, pallid stuff they have on hand out East isn't really worth looking at, but they apparently make do during their more abbreviated season. All that stoic Puritan stock comes in handy sometimes.

I don't eat sugar straight from the sugar bowl-- though mix it with some lemon juice, smear it on a crepe, and we'll talk. But if I
did, at least it would be vegetarian, unlike Peeps.

That's how I make scone icing-- sugar and lemon juice.
If you tar the delicious corn with the "all sugar" brush, then you are never allowed to eat hard candy, mints or tictacs, ever. They're... wait for it... all sugar!! ;p I can't eat it all the time, but candy corn is great.

Even as a child I thought those the height of sophistication. Still love them. What is it about them?

I was buying candy at Tar-zhay last night when I saw a bag of caramel apple candy corn. Brown and red and white, and I had to get a bag. Oh, holy cow, they are mighty fine eatin's. I dumped the bag into a dish and they are half-gone now. People sit in front of my desk and keep reaching for them.
I don't mind because at home I have two more bags of candy - my favorites. I understand we might have at most a handful of trick-or-treaters tonight, and I figured that if I'll have excess stock, it might as well be something I like.

I have three bags, hidden underneath my bed: classic yellow candy corn; "autumn mix"; caramel flavored.
All Brachs of course.
WHO ELSE IS BUYING CANDY CORN? Enquiring minds want to know.
