Full Version: My Co-worker Is A Total Perfumista!
Perfume of Life > A Civilized Perfume Affair > Talk About Perfume
Delphinique
So, this revelation has been a long time coming. There were so many signs.

Been working at this place for over five months now. The secretary is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She's also very into perfume.

Whenever she comes back from the post office she's in a cloud of perfume (our office is near a mall..).

We started talking perfume--asked what her scent type is- her answer is "every type": Angel, a Van Cleef one (don't know it), Noa, and many more I can't recall. Many of her perfumes are in storage because they take up a lot of room --until she moves to her new place in a few months. She misses them.

A few days ago the darling gave the cleaning woman in our office a present -- a pitcher & set of glasses, and a bottle of perfume - Lancaster Sunwater.

Told her about POL...but sadly her English is not good. Last week, after I said we could swap perfumes, without any solicitation on my part--she came into my room with a list of her swappables--marking which was 1/2, 2/3, full etc.

Anyway..we're going to start swapping perfumes. :-)

Our first swap tomorrow--made her a goody bag in a quaint little pink bag--Lolita Lempicka, Kenzo Flower & some samples.. she's bringing me huge bottle of Pure Turquoise.

Very excited! Never though I'd catch a non-virtual perfume junkie so near..

Who's the closest perfumista in your vicinity?

Reckless Red used to be but I moved 1.5 hrs. away. She does come over this way though every few months or so.

I'm so happy for you! One of the best things in life is to meet fellow perfumistas in person. I'm lucky to have the darling Dawnkana only a couple of miles away :-)

I don't think there's anyone else here at POL that lives in Utah (unless they just lurk here.) Mando & Scentsablyurs (in Las Vegas) are probably the closest to me...

The other Bay Area POL-ers I know about are Evilpeony and CharityMoonvan. I think Magdalene is fairly close by, too. I haven't met anybody yet, but I am planning on being around for at least another four years. Am I forgetting anyone?

Lucky You! Have fun with it....

I am in the Santa Cruz Mountains outside of Los Gatos. I work several days a week at a boutique in Mountain View. (The other days I manage my private massage practice.) Yes, I'm near.

CharityMoonvan is nearby? She has my ideal haircut!!!!

Gosh, I had no idea that EP (that name tickles me) and you, bergamot, were my neighbors!

What shall we do about this???

To respect the original thread: Yes~ I am a total perfumista evangelist. Last week, I had women lined up waiting to sample Chopard Wish. One left and brought back a friend a few hours later. I am a pernicious influence.

One of the writers on Now Smell This posted about working in a vintage clothing shop on weekends - the shop is a few blocks away from me. I work most weekends, though, so I haven't had a chance to pop in and say hello.

I don't know any other scentaholics in real life. Yet.

Swapping with the scentaholic co-worker was so much fun. For once I didn't feel weird going on about perfume..and she was even more excited than me about the concept of swapping..;-)

Isn't it wonderful to have someone in "real life " to talk to about perfume ? I have converted my daughters-in-law and now they call me to talk about a fragrance they have smelled, we shop for perfume together and swap samples and bottles.

What a pleasure, Delphinique.

My colleagues are all politely bemused by the whole scent thing, although one of them, who loves the fragrance of tomato greens as much as I do, was astonished that anyone had bottled that scent-- I brought my bottle of Demeter Tomato for her to try. There may be hope yet.

Magdalene, clearly we should have a Bay Area sniffa sometime. :)
