I can organise a weekend in Melbourne while my family goes on a Fathers and Children camp during this weekend. Teacake, Lady Jicky Smelka and I discussed meeting in the City, lunching or coffeeing and then setting off, witha babe and a Mother too.

Would this date be suitable for you girls? What time could we meet, and where, considering I will fly in that a.m., and you will be coming into town from different directions?

Lady Jicky do you have any suggestions for lunch spots near DJ's? I am happy to go to Southbank or wherever but that is a bit more of a walk afterwards. I will have a stroller with me so those laneway pigeonholes might be difficult, LOL, but it fits just fine anywhere else.

Susan what time will suit you? We will fit in with you since you are the one getting off the plane!

Great. I'm booked on a flight that arrives at 10am...jump onto the Skybus, leave suitcase at Southern Cross Station...and jump onto a tram...to meet you all!! I think I can do all that and be ready for a smart coffee by 11am.

That date is fine for me too. About lunch - Little Bourke street is very close- we can go there, of course Southbank is prettier , but if it is less stressfull with the baby... I'll look forward to meeting everyone!

The baby is used to going on huge walks.. it would only be stressful if it was pouring! If Susan is going to be in the city at 11 maybe we should meet somewhere central for coffee, allows people time to show up, and then decide if we want lunch or sniffing first. We can discuss where to have lunch over coffee, lol

Central spot would be the Starbucks on Swanson (now personally I hate their coffee, I'm just thinking of likely available seating). There are lovely tea rooms in the Block Arcade but I've never seen an empty seat there. Anyway throw out your ideas peoples!

Teacake, what about meeting at the coffee shop you mentioned in opposite Powder 'n Paint...where they serve Chocolate. We could wait for a table, get to know each other, go to DJs, lunch, Mecca, Hermes. Chanel...oh la la...sounds divine!!

That sounds good Susan. If possible I will make a reservation (it is tiny and mainly a take away for the chocolate).

Of course Lady Jicky's mum might be too frightened to dine opposite the dragon..

Sounds good to me too! Teacake, what do you think of having lunch at that lunch spot in the mens wear building of DJ's? There is a lift so the pusher will be no problem and we are near the sniffy spots so we do not waste GOOD SNIFFING TIME hiking up to Southgate! LOL
I do not know if we can book but as we will all be slurping in KoKo blacks its just a skip to the DJ store up the lift and see if they will give us a table for whatever time we will break our sniffing for some noshing.

Oh Lady Jicky, the mark of a true perfumista.. in the city of Restaurants she wants to eat as CLOSE to the PERFUME as possible!

Yes I have eaten there with my daughter before, it has the added advantage of not being very crowded unlike everywhere else in the city. I think we could pop up there prior to sniffing and ask them to reserve us a table in an hour or whatever.

I don't know, I do remember what you look like from the photos thread though you may have changed something since then, LOL. I will have a pusher so that narrows it down some and KoKo Black only has a few tables. I don't have a problem with going up to them and asking.. is this the Melbourne sniffa? LOL I will see if I can book the tables outside the shop in the arcade. I'll let you all know about whether that is possible.

Yes, 11 o'clock at Koko Black. The plane lands at Tullamarine at 10, so I think 1hr to the Royal Arcade sounds do-able, using the Skybus and a tram, don't you?

Jicky I may well take my camera in and take some great shots of the shops for you. Myer is very swish now in the perfume section since they've renovated it (still overcrowded and noisy though--the MAC etc.. makeup sections blare very loud music which takes over the whole floor).

I have reserved a table at Koko Black for 11am Friday for 4 people and a pram. The table will be inside.






They have gorgeous chocolates at Koko's so don't eat any sweets before hand! I'm looking fwd to seeing all of you so much!

Getting very excited....I'd like a weather update on Thursday evening.....although I am aware that Melbourne can be several seasons in one day...for that matter Sydney can be difficult like that too!

Thursday - mostly showers 32c

Friday - showers 25c ( I hope it is a warm to cool day - better for sniffing - so, fingers crossed for 25c

Saturday - Mostly sunny 26c

Sunday - showers 24c

Now , we know it can all change but I will be packing my little suitcase for the few days coming with warm and cold weather stuff chucked in.

Hi everyone! I had a wonderful, unforgettable day! Even so we've never met, I felt we knew each other trough POL and I believe we really clicked ! WE talked and talked laughed and tried every fragrance that was available ! Lady jicky's mother came too and she just charmed me and I'm sure everyone as well . Teacake's baby is adorable, so well behaved , went with us to all the shops without complaining !
And It is completely different experience when you can discuss what you try with kindreds spirits!
