Yeah, gross. But I'm... let's just say... skeptical about these hair-ties seriously spreading STDs among the average consumer. Maybe you could make a case for the people working in the treatment plant where they're made being exposed to viruses, but the idea that some girl will just be doing her hair months later, minding her own business, and catching HIV from a recycled condom hair-tie...? Getouttahere and while you're at it, take a sex ed class. The whole China smear campaign is really starting to annoy me.

Sadie, as far as I'm concerned, there is no China smear campagin; China is doing it to itself.

No mention of how they are collecting used condoms. I have a feeling something is lost in translation. I'm guessing these condoms were defective and therefore never sold but, instead of throwing them out, they just sold the ring part to use as a hair band, which would make more sense.

There is something odd about this news story. News is not always what it seems on the surface.

I agree with your last statement.

Good thing I wear my hair short these days.

What a truckload of rubbish !!!!!
Did you know that two toy making companies have had to withdraw christmas toys from the market in Australia and overseas !
I read a well respected scientific report a couple of days ago where it is recorded that Australia with hardly any people in it and hardly any manufacturing in comparison to many smaller countries... I won't mention Singapore... Australia produces more than three times the carbon probs that the while of China does....I admit that is so far....
I am not waving the Chinese flag but I do so get tired of this sort of airbrushing of partly true stories ... taken out of context... etc.

Remember....keep an open mind...but so open that everything falls out !!!!!

The toy companies I refer to are Australian .... and withdrew stuff right off shelves in major stores....
