TV viewers are responding to male characters who are "good guys" but must do bad things because of circumstances e.g. Tony Soprano

I'm simple-minded and the Ralph Lauren ad distracted me. What is it trying to say? "B*astard didn't get me my Christmas present!" "Don't worry dear, I will comfort you with my fur hat." I dunno. Those two women don't look very holiday-ish to me.
