I just found my new house. Its current owner is the owner of McAfee software. It's going up for auction on Tuesday.

Here are a few of the salient details:

I am an architecture junkie. That house is beautiful. The grounds are so lush and the rooms so cozy.

I loved taking the tour. The living room is totally "me." If anyone knows of any English house tours one can take, please chime in. I'll be checking this thread!

A gift wrapping room!?! I always thought that was just a bad joke about the Spelling family -- never imagined anyone else in the world had one!! Tee!

Beautiful house. I'm wondering if the furnishings belong there, or if the house has been 'staged' for sale. Some of it doesn't look very good, and lots of stuff looks kind of out of place. I wonder if that's the taste of the owner, or of the real estate broker or auction house.

The article didn't say who the owner was, Twitch. Do you know more about this? Why are they so desperate to unload it at any price??

Something about an old Indian burial ground, I believe...

I just found out about this. It seems to be like an Indian version of feng shui.

Interesting, in the article at the bottom they have a section telling:

What
Where
When
Who

--but no "Why" LOL

Oh for a custom built library - I have 3 big book shelves full and overflowing.

Yeah, the gift-wrapping room is a tad much. At the end of the article, it says it belongs to "software entrepreneur" McAfee, the guy who brought you McAfee virus programs. I don't know why the urgency to unload it, but judging by the pictures, it has been for sale since summer. Houses are not moving around here. Maybe McAfee software isn't doing so well. I'm guessing this is a second or third home for him.

Well, since we both live in Michigan, we could put our pennies together Twitch..............maybe even Jeffrey from the UP would put in a few! It would be large enough for the 3 of us, don't ya think?

That is too gorgeous! Thank you for giving us this to look at.

Sure! Maybe we could have a bake sale to raise funds or something.

That house looks like something out of a Thomas Kinkade painting. :-)

I wouldn't turn it down - do you think they'd sell it to me cheap since my maiden name is McAfee?
sgupta4
The grounds are gorgeous. The interiors have an 'English' feel to them. It's not matchy-match but instead looks like something put together over the years with no strict plan.

Sure! Tell them you're their long-lost cousin. Snap it up, and invite all your perfume friends over for a housewarming.

The auction is tomorrow; better hurry.

I'd like the library.

Me, I want two master baths and two master closets and two master bedrooms (perhaps one for summer and one for winter.)

How lovely that garden area is! (And the music.)

There's a video here that gives the details: http://www.wxyz.com/mostpopular/story.aspx...eb-a67aab9a615d

I think they said it sold for $2.35 million, but I'm not sure; didn't listen closely yet.

This is the fourth house that McAfee has sold at auction, according to another article I found. He apparently likes to buy houses.
