Yes Carson is doing the American version of How To Look Good Naked.

A good choice for you guys and I think he has the personality for the show.

hmmm... Men in general do not trust Carson.

The street segment think he's too flash and does the suit thing too much.
The suit/tailored segment listen only to Alan Flusser or Michael Anton, and think he crosses into white jean territory too often.
The trad segment listen only to each other (they are an incestuous bunch), no point in even trying.

The other 99.99% of the male population just do not care how they cover their torso and extremities, and feel that even using laundry detergent is "trying too hard".

I however, like him.

Oh, I love Carson, but then, I'm a straight woman who loves gay men. He just is who he is, plain and simple. I get the impression that he made peace with himself ages ago, and that he doesn't give a hoot about the people that don't like him. Gotta love that.

That said, I find his fashion sense often appalling. Perhaps he can get away with wearing what I like to call "Jackass Pants" (seen here): but recommending them for the population at large is just cruel.

Semi-unrelated anecdote:

Those jackass pants remind me of the 40-50 year old man I once saw at the grocery store wearing his jammies. This guy did not appear to be a drunk or homeless. He just had no respect. Clothing communicates and I felt offended by his choice. To me, by his clothing, he was saying that no one that he might possibly encounter at the store mattered - that he could appear in front of us, dressed so embarrasingly, and that it just doesn't matter because our opinion of him is totally unimportant.

Interesting interpretation. Do you always take things so personally? My take on this was that he might be been severely depressed.

Sorry should have said, How To Look Good Naked it aimed at women. We have Gok Wan the fairy Gok Mother he calls himself. They take a woman who thinks she is ugly etc and with dressing tips and showing her she is not any different from the rest of the women out there she is beautiful and does look good naked.

No plastic surgery involved so might be a shock for the American public used to makeover shows.

The are popular among the trad crowd (think madras, preppy, grosgrain belts, J. Press), and are referred to as "go-to-hell" pants.

To paraphrase Mae West, popularity's got nothin' to do with it. No one should wear those pants. Ever. I wouldn't let my family lay me out in those things!

Oh, I'd wear them, but then again my tastes have been justly slandered in the past, so why discriminate now?

The pants picture is not showing up for me, but I'm guessing you mean those patchwork madras pants that preppies wear? I really like them, on the right person - they are "ironic, tongue-in-cheek preppie". I also enjoy the concept of wearing pajama bottoms out of the house, as if one were on perennial spring break, but then again, I like the uber-casual feeling probably because my week day life is so stressed, and realistically I can't go out in my pajams to work every day. It's the ironic luxury that if you're struggling financially, you can't afford to walk around looking like you don't work - you need to look impeccably professional and wel-dressed in order to get the job, keep the job and pay the bills, so only the idle rich can actually walk around in public in their PJs.

Didn't the actor Nick Nolte get on airlines wearing pajamas? I remember reading that somewhere. Of course, I think a little drinky poo was also involved.

He might have been depressed. Or he might have had Alzheimer's...or been on medication that impaired his judgment...
I would be hesitant to read too much into that man's wearing pajamas to the store, and I certainly wouldn't be personally offended.
I would only be offended if a person exposed himself/herself to me, in a calculated manner...and once I'd calmed down...I'd realize there was probably some mental disorder involved.
I'd still be horrified, though. Actually, I have been "flashed" and was pretty shocked, at the time.
