There's no such thing. Every pet takes a considerable amount of responsibility.

My thought exactly, there is no such thing as a low maintenance pet. The point of having a pet is to have less maintenance than a child, if you get my drift... As for hair, well, poodles don't shed and are hypoallergenic, and Standards aren't inbred, but most other varieties have issues with inbreeding. Unfortunately, Standards are large, with excellent coordination and good hips, so they love to jump high, spin in the air, and eat anything on any counter or thawing in your sink. They are true circus animals. Most are incredibly smart, and might just be smarter than their masters, which tends to get a bit annoying. Can you tell, I have a Standard poodle?

Besides poodles, the others that do not shed and do not have doggie odor are Maltese, Shih Tsu's, Lasa Apasa.......and Bishon Frise's. These all require GROOMING!
Cats are low maintenance because you don't have to walk them but..............
cat hair
cat claws (no leather sofa's)

Yes, I forgot to mention grooming. My poodle gets the least expensive cut and it's still $100 per month with the bath included. It would cost at least twice that amount in a large city.

I am a cat person all the way. I like the combination of affection and contempt they provide.
I'd never own a dog because I can't abide a pet that hasn't the good sense to bury its own excrement.
How about a rabbit? I understand they are quite affectionate and can even be trained to use a litterbox... They're vegetarians, so not difficult to feed if you happen to eat salad on a regular basis.

That is a funny article. My 4.5 year old son would love to have a pet frog - I'll show him those photos. Thanks for the smile!

Ohhhhh--I didn't realize that your original post was a clickable link at first! I think others made the same mistake... We thought you were seriously in the market for a new pet.
Frogs are funny as heck. We raised bullfrog tadpoles last year... We released them into the stream near our house when their legs appeared. They'd probably be riding motorcycles & skateboards by now...
Sorry for the misunderstanding, perfumeme, and thanks for posting the article.

No worries. I thought it was weird that the frog listened to her and then came into her house and has happily stayed ever since. Maybe it's her ex-husband from a past life.
