I've noticed that when I read an article at an online newspaper, at the bottom of the page is "Ads by Google" with links to goods and services in my area. How do I change the location to another area? Where is google getting my info from?

PM, I was curious about this and I went to articles in the NY Times and Chicago Sun-Times and did not get any Google ads at all. Now I get Google in Canada so maybe they don't target people outside the US. However,I tried it with a Canadian online newspaper and magazine too and there too, no Google ads whatsoever. Sorry I cannot be of help. It will be interesting to see if you find answers.

It's interesting because I seldom use Google to search, preferring Good Search because money goes to my favorite charity.

Google gets your info from your IP address. You can't change it because it's not a setting.
Check the lower right hand corner of NYT.

Oh great. Where I live there are approx. 60 households hidden behind one IP address. I wonder what kind of ads I would get...
