Full Version: Eau De Campagne?
Perfume of Life > A Civilized Perfume Affair > Talk About Perfume

I had a friend tell me that she really likes Sisley's Eau de Campagne recently. She's not a perfumista, and would be befuddled by decanting, so I didn't ask. I didn't think much of it until later, when I found out this was an early JC Ellena fragrance.

Is anyone out there a fan? Is it worth chasing down?

I think I remember FiveOaksBouquet wearing this a lot this past summer.

It's a great, dry, herbally scent that uses tomato leaf absolute. Not the greatest staying power on me, but it is a summery scent after all...

Lovely and green, rather than sharply green. Although it's sold in women's fragrances it could easily be worn by a man. Unfortunately very pricey and not widely available.

Thanks for remembering, Isabella! I'm a big fan.

Teddius, here's how you can tell if you will like Eau de Campagne: go to the grocery store, find a tomato with the stem/leaf still attached, pull off the stem and sniff the node. If you like that smell, you will like Eau de Campagne!

I like it a lot, a soapy, herbaceous and grassy green, my Dad wears it a lot in summer.

I like it, but haven't worn it in maybe two years. Probably because in the herbal domain Sous le Vent has ascended the throne as Queen. King is Vetiver Oriental, their favorite daughter O de Lancome, and I suppose the EdC has become Eau de Cinderella and has been delegated to the kitchen. As is the trend with modern-day royalty (read: celebrities), they are thinking of adopting a girl, from the Middle East (with Dutch blood, too - a very special sprout): Amyitis. I'm really not sure what is to become of EdC. Life isn't fair.

But, she ís worth pursuing.

I don't have the edt in this one but I have the shower gel which is immensely enjoyable and true to the scent. The only problem is that my husband and sons think it is for them.

I love too Eau de Campagne. It's certainly the greenest perfume I've ever smelled. It is a thousand miles different from what is "trendy" today and that's partly why I love it. It has a vintage feeling that lots of POLers might like.

I have too the shower gel which is true to the edt and the body lotion which provides good moisture to the skin. The fragrance of the body lotion is slightly different of the edt and shower gel, it's more scented like a typical edc but layers well with the Eau de Campagne edt. Unfortunately the price of the body products are outrageously expensive!

Teddius-
Katy is right on !
I adore it, and I suspect you will, too.
Bath gel is to DIE for- I have to hide it.

When my eldest was 18 months, he commented to a neighbor [ rather disdainfully, I'm afraid !]:
"Annemarie is wearing perfume-
NOT Eau de Campagne !"

She was crestfallen, and had no clue about his babbling , thank goodness.

I love the tomato leaf in this one. Unfortunately, there's also some weird pimento note in there that I don't care for. As a result, I wear it more sparingly than I would otherwise.

Very refreshing in the summer.

It smells a lot like Irish Spring on my skin. Very green and invigorating...

Its listed in the men's section on Sisley's website? Do they only put it at the women's counter in your area?

Either way, its one of my all-time fav's, although I'll admit it has a bit of a 70's vibe to it...probably from one of the synthetics that was frequently used in that era. You may not love if that's a deterent, but I would definitely try at the very least!

I've found that sets of it often go on sale at the Sisley counter after Father's Day. The bar soap/shower gel are definitely worth waiting for!

In germany it is marketed as an unisex scent.

Teddius, I am very fond of Eau de Campagne. It's one of only a small number of scents I've ever been complimented on-- by a Guerlain SA, no less. She said, "It smells like it was made for you."

It's brisk and green but by no means one-dimensional. The tomato leaf, IMO, is totally enchanting. And I find there's a little coumarin kick at the end, turning from grass to warm hay.

And while I marginally prefer the older version to the version released after the oakmoss kerfuffle (the new version contains both oakmoss and treemoss), I think the newer version lasts a little longer.

I would second the recommendation on the shower gel, and the lotion is quite nice, too.
