Is the Lowell Hotel a good hotel? Hubby and I are planning out our vacation to NYC in October and he is leaning towards the Lowell. Any opinions?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I dunno - it's been years and years since I stayed in a NYC hotel and it wsn't the Lowell. If only Susan Winters were still with us - she knew all the scoop on everything.

Someone on POL will know, I am sure - there are many who've traveled to NYC for sniffas and whatnot (especially the whatnot, LOL!)

If you want a young, hip, trendy area and the crowd that goes with it, this is not the place. You will be staying on the elegant, but a bit old-hat (in a good way) Upper East Side.

It's within walking distance of Barney's, Bergdorf's, Hermes, Caron and Takashimaya, and a nice healthy stroll to the Chanel boutique on 57th St. .... but don't let perfume proximity influence you!!

Elegant is fine with me. :)

Sandra - if you do want young, hip, trendy, where to go then? Tia.

Dawn, good plan!

There are hotels in Soho and, believe it or not, the Lower East Side, including a new one on the Bowery, right there the New Museum. The Bowery is changing so fast it's enough to give you whiplash.
