I was feeling a little reminiscent today; I guess turning 42 made me start thinking about my past and my former neighborhood, so I decided to google about my old neighborhood and came across You Tube's Thanksgiving Day Parade, 1969. The vintage video has brought up memories of my former neighborhood. I never knew that there was a Thanksgiving Day Parade! Now, it has changed dramatically. It has now become Chinatown. Old Americana no longer exists. I also included 1997 Flushing, New York. What a difference!

Awww... my dad spent his childhood in Flushing. What a flashback, I was 7 when that parade happened and it is all so familiar, lol.

I remember being torturously bored during parades, straining to see stuff.. the endless marching bands.. having to go to the bathroom but not being able to.. LOLOL

Wow, you used to live in Flushing as well? What a small world we live in! Do you remember what part of Flushing you used to live?

Honestly, I wasn't prepared for anyone here to say that they used to live in Flushing!

No, my dad lived there as a kid. His mom had a hairdressing salon. I lived in Staten Island.
