Had to buy the easter eggs today, had put it off due to the heat. Of course there was sniffing involved.
Wanted to try Kenzo Amour Holi, very fond of Kenzo Amour. Myer did not have it and in fact had not heard of it but Perfume Empire has it. Of course they only grace you with a misted half spritz held 2 feet above your arm so it's a bit difficult to test but.. it smells like Kenzo Amour with a camphor note in the drydown, the same note that is Carnation in Opium and mothballs to Lady Jicky. There is also a woody spice there not dissimilar to Kenzo Flower Oriental which features oudh. The SA kept telling me "it's very fruity!!" but I didn't detect any fruit. It was okay, would like to properly test, but as it smelled so strikingly like 3 things I already have at this point I couldn't see buying it.
After that I went purple: DKNY Be Delicious Night and Chopard Happy Spirit.
The Happy Spirit had that fluffy sugarred patchouli base note that is so popular today, found in Euphoria, Danielle Steele, Britney's Believe.. it was smoothly done. Over the top was grape. It's supposed to be berries I think but to my nose it was grape. Nevertheless it was a kind of happy little gourmand with no clashing synthetic notes. Looking it up I see it is designed by Dominique Ropion (sp) who also did Euphoria.
DKNY Be Delicious Night was odd.. starts off very strong and cool. I think this is blackberry and pepper. Synthetic notes that seemed deliberate. I will probably never wear blackberry but I think some would really like this. I will try it again when it's cooler, couldn't really appreciate it on a warm day.
I also ate a McFeast which is now back on the menu at Maccas after many years absence. It used to be the only thing I would ever eat there and I was quite miffed when they replaced it with the McOz. It was good but as I was eating it I remembered I used to ask for no mayo or special sauce or whatever it is.
AND just to prattle on more in this post I bought some LINDT DARK CHILLIE chocolate. This was very very good. It is with the other Lindt's and looks lovely with single red chillie floating against the dark background.

OK - this is Spooky Teacake but I loved the McFeast too! LOL If we had a" day in the garden " and were too bushed to cook a thing we would drive to McD's as it was the closest and get something there and then creek back home on our old wonky legs! LOL So I used to always get McFeast then - boom - gone and I got the Oz thing. So that is nice to know its back - haven't been to McD's for awhile and the garden has not been looked at either - its dead really .
Lindt with chillie - I am not a lindt girl - sort of mouth creamy to me but in the line of good research I shall force myself - yes I said force myself and get some to try ! LOL I am curious - might take the creamy texture away???
Mmmm - Moth ###### Kenzo . I shall sniff but I bet I do not like. Happy Spirit sounds like soooo many others and I get the feeling you think it smells like soooooo many others .
Teacake , I have yet to find a DKNY that I like - that apple one fascinated me - I have dishwashing liquid that smells the same! LOL
I must try to get out and get a sniff as its been so HOT and I do hope it does not come back.

Oh Lady Jicky the Lindt is still creamy. My favorite chocolate is Droste which has a dusty note which I love. I do not find it as creamy as others. I do like chillie chocolate though. I am not a big chocolate eater at all, never crave it, but I am now thinking about those Droste pastilles..
The McFeast was just as good as I remembered! I couldn't believe it when they gave it the axe as I'd never eaten anything else there for decades. Now I usually have the lean beef burger which is pretty good, grilled not fried, with baby spinach. But the McFeast will tempt me, lol.
I haven't liked any DKNY's either. I remember smelling the scent strip in a magazine for the green Be Delicious and thinking it was great but I never ever liked it. I did once compliment a very trendy young asian fellow on his fragrance which smelled great on him and it was Red Delicious, the female one. I can't do the DK Gold because of the lillies, Black Cashmere depresses me and Cashmere Mist is pure Baby Wipes.. and not Huggies Baby wipes, Black and Gold Baby Wipes which you want to wash off, lol.
I do love smelling the news ones though, :)

Do you think there is mothball babywipes????????????????? LOL

I didn't even know that they stop making the McFeasts. However I do remember the Tandoori chicken burgers they did for awhile along with the curry puffs and minted yoghurt dipping sauce.
Chilli choc is yum, I'm not much of a fan of chocolate but we are all chilli/spice fiends in this household. I have in the past finely cut some chilli and floated it in my mug of hot chocolate.
DKNY sounds interesting I'll have to try and hunt some down, that's if anyone in Adelaide has any.

I'm not sure Lj, I do love Swiss Glory and Haighs truffles but I don't know if they do chilli chocolate.

What I want to know is, when are they bringing back the chili Tim Tams??! Those were so fantastic.
Lady jicky
Mar 20 2008, 01:58 AM
Cazaubon, when I see them I shall let you know. They - the Tim Tam people, must be in the fragrance industry too - they have the "limited Editions" and those Chillie Tim Tams are one of them!
Very annoying all round.

Oh , forgot . Teacake - I tried to find The perfumes you reviewed the other day. Went to Forest Hills with daughter and there is this Mini Myer there - so in we went!
I could only find Kenzo Flower and like you said - it was nice . Would I buy it? No - rather put $$ on something else.
No DKNY Be Delicious Night, No Kenzo Amour and NO Chopard Be Happy.
What they did have was the new Kylie Minogue scent called "Show Time" ----- eeeeer. Oh is this a sicky , sickly sweet number. Like my daughter said "this would bring the wasps after you!" LOL
I think the teenies will like it but NOT me or my daughter.
I love Droste chocolate too! I really love the one that is half and half. One side white and the other side of the pastelle is rich dark choc. Oooooh - will not bring wasps unless they love chocolate!

Hi all....I love the Lindt Chilli chocolate, because it is dark, and spicy, and it doesn"t have that overly creamy taste. It must be popular as it is hard to find.
I have been to Darrell Lea for Easter Eggs.I don't think their chocolate is fabulously good, but they have some interesting eggs. We have a busy store in Bondi Junction, and I bought everyone a half egged filled with either turkish delight, licorice or rocky road, and then covered in more chocolate. I am a licorice log NUT, but would never eat it these days...but I am going for it on Sunday. 5 kilos down now....I can afford a little binge!!
No new sniffings for me. Next week I'll take a trip to the city for a good old look around.
I hope your Easter weather is mild in Vic and SA, and that you all enjoy some stress free family time.

Don't tempt me, my New Years resolution was to lose weight and I have stuck to it and come too far now to go back.
I did however promise myself something special for my birthday so some expensive chocolate may just fit the bill.

SueBurgess , what is your diet ?
SueBurgess
Mar 22 2008, 04:01 AM
Hi smelka, it's just one I have done for myself and is pretty boring but I am sick of carrying the extra weight that I never lost after I had my son almost 10 yrs. ago
I have never eaten breakfast so I don't bother with that, for lunch I have a tub of diet/lite yoghurt with a piece or 2 of fruit, depending on how hungry I am, and tea is usually chicken/fish that I really spice up and some salad. Occasionally I will make a homemade hamburger or similar on the health grill.
We used to eat takeaway twice a week,we now only have a takeaway once a month.
We also used to dine out reasonably regularly, we have only had 1 meal out this year.
I have only drank water for the past almost 3 months, no coffee, no tea and no Coca cola (which I was addicted to).
I exercise twice a day most days also.

Thanks for prompt answer, I love your diet, no bread, no carbs.. no wonder it is working. I find it problematic that a lot of socialization is always around the food. Great that you cut out on the takeaway and dining out, when we go out, whenever the bill comes I always think about lovely perfume I could have bought instead . You exercise at home or at the gym?

Mar 22 2008, 04:57 AM
It is working a treat since 04.01.08 I have lost just over 20kgs.
In the morning I exercise at home and in the late afternoon hubby, junior and I walk about 3kms to the local playground.
We have knocked back a few dinner invites but I'm planning on going out for my birthday but that's not until June.
Tomorrow will be a bit of a test though as we have a family get together.

WOW that is fabulous!!! 20kg!! I have been quite strict myself for about 6 weeks and if I squint sideways at the scale it appears I have lost 2kg. This is quite depressing, when I was younger it was much easier to lose it. My goal is 10kg altogether.

I am going to give it a try too!

Mar 22 2008, 06:31 PM
Thanks ladies, If I can manage another 20 Kgs, I'll be one happy person.
I am pretty surprised how it has come off but I have been pretty strict. I have totally had enough, I was a little bit overweight before I had Matthew but after I had him things got a bit out of control and the kilos piled on. The time, I decided, had come to get rid of them and I'm well on my way. I'll never be a size 8, I can accept that but a 12-14 sounds good to me.
Have a happy Easter all and take care.
Sue.

Hi Smelka, Lady Jicky and Teacake, I've heard from my mother in Melb. about the madly srtong winds....I believe from the radio that people are being knocked off their feet. Melbourne surely specialises in extreme weather!! I hope you are all coping well.
I am looking forward to watching" Underbelly" tonight. I cannot begin to explain HOW FABULOUS this production is!! The acting and direction are exceptional, and the story, well....almost unbelievable....except we know it's true.
Currently enjoying a Nerada Chai...delish.
And yes, where are you Jicky?....we haven't heard from you for ages...I hope all is well with you.

I have lost power for 5 hours - just gone on. I really worry about the food in the fridge and I was having withdrawal with the computer down! LOL
How are you going Teacake with all the tall trees in your area? I hope you are OK!!!!! You too Smelka by the bay!!!!! Shocking about that wall that fell down and killed a woman just walking by to the carpark. You never know when your number is up. Tragic.

I didn't realize until reading this thread that the winds were so strong.. we heard some wind a few hours ago and remarked on it but it was nothing compared to what we usually get up here. It looks like we were spared which is a good thing because the trees here DO fall down. As I always tell people every tree is destined to fall sooner or later, eek.. I am very glad my house no longer has tall trees over it as my previous house was surrounded by them. Two houses within a few houses of me were crushed by trees one year (no one hurt but huge damage).
I am about to have some French Early Grey now! I am almost done with my box. Will have to go to Knox for it which I don't fancy.. I did buy one called "Girlie Grey" by T2 the other day from the deli winding down it's T2 stock. It has earl grey, lemon.. not sure. A stop gap until I can get the French!
Oh and Lady Jicky so awful to lose power.. I quite panic especially when it's cold.

Hello everyone!
Thankfully it is calm and lovely today, love autumn!
Teacake, thank you for a sample of " un Lys", I was so curious about it, because Helg compared it with a 'breath of an angel', it is pretty, but.. maybe because i exopected something very otherwordly i' m not overwhelmed by it, it is not that I think that Helg was wrong, just another case what for somebody is breath of an angel, is just another pretty scent for someone else, just want to add that if someone is interested I can pass that sample on.
I have aquesion, where can I get those bottles that are good for decunts, I know we had a thread, but I can't locate it now. Have a lovely weekend everybody!
