An anti-coagulant medicine was banned by the U.S. and Canada:

"The heparin in question was distributed by U.S.-based Baxter International and was manufactured in China, the world's leading provider of the blood-thinner. There have been similar recalls of Chinese-sourced heparin in Germany and Japan."

Just an FYI for anyone who might take this medicine.

It's fine if manufacturers want to make more money, but let the consumer know if their product comes from China so we can decide to buy or not.

Heparin is used in hospitals. Most of the "consumers" have little choice.

I think it's time to cut the "greed is good" garbage and get back to common decency. YES, we all want to put our kids in private schools, but cutting corners that are going to kill OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS so that we can line our own pockets is FLAT WRONG!

No, nobody needs to make money on my or my son's life...and they don't need to make it at risk to any of our lives.
Giving something risky to a person who is at a disadvantage simply because you know you have a "captive audience" and they will chance almost anything in an effort to attain health and a few more years is evil---can I use that word? It's EVIL, and the people who are willing to do it deserve to have to face repercussions.

It is NOT okay to do anything in pursuit of money. If it is then it's okay to sell drugs, or kiddie porn or anything else...if we know the drugs are tainted, it's time to bite the big one, like the big boys and girls these manufacturers are...and not sell the garbage, neither to US NOR to people from South or North of our borders.

Once again it's time to boycott China made products.

I wish they would just charge a little more and source these products from reputable countries. I try not to buy Chinese products but sometimes there is no other option.

After all these situations....toys with higher than acceptable levels of lead, contaminated dog food, now contaminated medicine, I am surprised our country would continue to put its people at risk by continuing to buy products from China.

Did it ever occur to them that maybe China is doing all this INTENTIONALLY? It has more than occurred to me..I no longer want anything from China.

That includes food, products, and clothing. I think we should ALL boycott products made in China. If we did, that would minimize our risk of any contamination.

And with the bird flu out there, that makes me wonder about other things!

Could you be more specific in your beliefs about their motivations?

The more this kind of stuff is happening, the more I want to boycott all 'Made in China' products. But you can't go to a mass-market retailer and not buy something 'Made in China' because it's all made over there.

It's very hard to boycott all Made in China products for sure, probably near impossible, especially when ingredients from China are hidden under the Made in USA or Made in Canada label. To that type of deceptive labelling, I take great objection, most particularly to products that are ingested.

Article in the NY Times. This I did not know:

"The way heparin is made and distributed illustrates the challenges they face. The drug's raw material comes from mucous membranes in the intestines of slaughtered pigs. Those membranes are mixed together and cooked, a process that in China often takes place in unregulated family workshops."
