A few days ago, I got a PM from another POLer who I've never met. This unsolicited message expressed interest, out of the blue, in sending me a gift. Less than a day later, I received another PM from another POLer (also whom I've never met) saying the same thing. [Names of POlers withheld. If they want to out themselves, that's fine with me.] Well, good heavens, I thought to myself, it's like I hit the lottery.
And how.
I came home from the gym today to find a package from Luckyscent. I was more than a little taken aback--I went on Luckyscent just yesterday for the first time in months. I didn't order anything, since Mr. Diva and I had our come-to-Jesus meeting about the credit card, I've only ordered one book (the new Avery Whathisname book, which also came today). I knew it wasn't for someone else--my name was on it, and I'm the only perfume freak in these parts. All I could think was that I had clicked something by mistake and ordered something that came at the speed of light.
Well.
I went inside and opened the box, and inside was a gift box. Still puzzled. On the gift box, inside the pretty bow, was a card. It read:
"Laura:
Every time you post about loving powdery fragrances, I think to myself, I have got to get her a bottle of Bois de Paradis. So, voila! Enjoy your summer of freedom....[what follows is a very nice compliment].
Regards,
POLer X"
You could have knocked me over with a bologna sandwich. I have never, ever in my life been on the receiving end of such a magnaminous and kind gesture from a person I've never met. I began to well up right then and there. I coudn't believe that this person I've never met would do something so kind.
And to think there's another package from another POLer (POLer Y?) on the way to me!
Furthermore, I am happy to report that I sprayed on the Bois de Paradis.....and where has this stuff been all my life????? POLer X hit the nail on the head. It is stunning! I've already gotten two compliments.....I am a happy, happy girl!
I am truly humbled.
POLer X, you know who you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
POLer Y, you are too kind.
I am amazed at the generosity of strangers. I am amazed at the community we have here.
Wow.

You deserve it deeve, enjoy it in good health - and I have a good idea of who your benefactor is - I've been the beneficiary of POL largesse myself, and it is truly humbling. An unbelievably thoughtful POL' er once sent me an entire bottle of Bois d'Armenie, out of the blue, just because she knew I loved it... POLers are the best!

Enjoy Deeve , it is humbling , but also heartwarming.

Yes. Altodiva, your presence on POL is so positive and funloving, that you attracted this kind of generosity.
Bless you, Poler X!

POLers are indeed the most kind-hearted and generous people I've ever met, though I have not the privilege of knowing you all "in real life."

So happy for you Altodiva - we are indeed blessed to be part of this wonderful
perfume family. It enhances our lives in a myriad of ways. Despite all the evil
in the world, I firmly believe that the vast majority of peoples are good and
loving at heart and thank heavens for it!

What an absolutely lovely story! How kind and thoughtful people can be, and clearly you are very deserving too. And to think, up until a few years ago I would never join an on-line community as Mr F warned me that everyone would be a lunatic (at best). I have made marvellous and true friends this way. Enjoy your lovely gifts!

Wow.
I wanted to add:
She's amazed. Diva's amazed. This from the woman who GAVE me a full 2-ounce bottle of Secret de Venus Zibeline oil. Does anyone here have any idea what that's worth? She did. I told her. But she insisted I should have it.
Beauty is as beauty does, Deeve. This is your karma coming back to you.

YOU.
I cried when you sent me that bottle of Laura Ashley No. 1. You must've known how much you could've gotten for that on eBay, but instead you gave it away.
I'm glad you're now the recipient of that kind of largesse. Feels wonderful, doesn't it?

We never know what is stirring in the hearts of others, and so often it is kindness and generosity. It does us all good to hear of these wonderful actions -- and, as others have said, it also tells of the high regard in which you are held. Enjoy it, Deeve!

Diva, A similar thing happened to me....a lovely POL'er last year. A huge bottle of Caron Farnesiana....numerous samples...another Caron parfum and more. An incredibly kind gesture. They're not around that much anymore, if at all....if you read this sweetie - Thanks!
What goes around comes around girl....it's the way of the world.

Just wanted to say I have come across sooooo many kind & generous people here on POL.
Some are still here ~ Some rarely drop by & post ~ Some are silent visitors, read but don't post anymore ~ Some are no longer here. I am a grateful and better person for knowing each one of them.
And there is one person whose name I wish I could remember. My apologies....I am getting older and more and more forgetful by the hour I think.
She got me hooked on BOUDOIR. She sent me the WHOLE SET! Now, it is almost my HG, I absolutely LOVE it, but may never have gotten the chance to know it had it not been for her. Thank you!
Another lovely person sent me items when she found out I spent my *day after Christmas* in the hospital and did not get one perfume for Christmas. She said a "perfumeless* Christmas would not happen as long as she was around. It was a particularly bad year for me, but she made it much better.....not by the gift, but by knowing she cared enough to reach out.
Another one always sends wonderful gifts at least twice a year. Candy, cookies, loukoumis, perfume, all wrapped like tootsie rolls. She is another person that is generous to a fault & I love her dearly. I am hoping to make the journey to meet her.
And yet another one has sent things I love as well. Body wash & lotions and even much loved Italian perfume....they travel a long distance.
The two above know I LOVE olive oil items. Soaps, lotions, body wash, etc., and they are such lovely people.
A very generous POLer here always is generous with her samples. I would be happy with a taste....just a drop or two, but she sends large samples!
I could go on.....and I hope I don't miss anyone....you know who you are, and I love you guys dearly, believe that!
Thanks to all of you.....you are truly Perfume Angels. There are ALOT of Perfume Angels here on POL.
I am sure we have ALL been blessed by knowing at least one Angel right?!
Yes....it feels just as good to give, in fact, I think it feels BETTER!
I think I have literally felt my heart get bigger when I have given something to someone.
