In Sept. last year I bought a $49.95 Cuinart stick blender with accessories for $29.95 at Costco.

Similar Cuisinart handheld blender but not the same model

It has a processing jar including a wide blade which is great for making salsas, guacamole and chopping up anything and everything. I now make my own mayonnaise in NO TIME, and it's fresh and yummy. No using stale mayo or salsa in jars which have been in the fridge for 4 weeks. If you buy a stick blender of good quality you cam make smoothies and other icy drinks too, as well as creamy soups.<br>

I love this appliance! ~Yay!~

I was given one similar to that as a present, but I'm pretty good at splattering when I use it. I do have one of those mini-Cuisinart choppers, and that has been very handy. Used it a lot to 'baby-fy' what we were having for dinner before my daughter could eat solids. I've been very impressed with the quality of the Cuisinart products we've owned.

I have both Cuisinart and a Braun and am happy with both , when the first Braun died I was lost without it , no foolproof Hollandaise , creaming soups or smoothies , life was not good.

We wound up with two by pure coincidence and this is a good thing.
