I don't know if anyone was 'shocked' by Sherrie's latest admission on The View, but I certainly was. Please believe me when I say I am not a prude, BUT, Miss Shepard admitted to 'having more abortions that I can even count' last week on the show. I was flabbergasted by that statement. To me, she is using abortion as her choice of 'birth control'? Has she ever heard of The Pill, contraceptives, etc? This is accompanied by the fact that she is always belaboring how 'religious' she is, I believe as in Jehovah's Witness. I have no problem with her choice of religion, but I do have a problem with her statement about the number of abortions. At first, I thought she was joking, but she wasn't. Does anyone else find this offensive?

tjen
I am not personally offended. I do however, think that was way more information than I ever want to know or hear about. I look at both SS and EH as fillers on the show, someone to fill a chair....Sad and a bit disturbing

I don't have a problem with abortion, I do, however, have issues with abortion being 1. used as a contraceptive and 2. such an admission being made public. Some information is meant to be kept private.

Reiha: I feel anyone can make a mistake and have an abortion, but to state that one has had more than they can count makes me want to hurl!

I agree, Chardkay! sad.gif

Sounds like Ms. Shepard must be a member of the ultra-uber-frequent-flyer-program for that sort of thing... blink.gif

Holy cannoli, did she really say that? That's disturbing. She's said some ignorant things too on the show before (once something about "I don't know if the world is flat" or some craziness like that). I don't think she is quite as ignorant as Elisabeth H. but she's not too well informed. Like Elisabeth she hasn't learned to shut her yap if the conversation goes into territory she knows nothing about.

As for her being a Jehovah's Witness, she was saying the other day that she was hanging out in a club and not drinking only because she has diabetes. So...I dunno.

I knew a girl in junior high and high school who used abortion as birth control. Very sad to see someone whose life is so out of control.
CHARDKAY
From what I understand she was interviewed by some magazine and was quoted as saying that. When asked to confirm it on The View, she did confirm the fact "that I have had more abortions than I can count" She also said someday she will go to heaven and see all of her little 'mistakes' waiting for her. Sick *itch!!

It's a free country and everybody can do whatever they feel is right I guess. I personally believe am really sorry for her. I can't believe somebody would openly admit on TV that they've done it over and over. I think she'll live to regret it. Who the heck is Sherrie anyway?

Boy, some people will do anything for a sound byte.

Honestly, I only caught a couple of the very first episodes of The View, but if this is the sort of thing it's degenerated into I reckon I'm not missing much.

Wasn't the original idea of this show to have hosts who represented women from different walks of life and to hear their takes on issues? Now it sounds like one of the walks of life is that of publicity scavenging minor celeb who will say anything to create a buzz.

That's pretty warped thinking, IMHO.
Sorry, but it comes off as some shallow person's way of trying to be glib about a serious issue...and seriously missing her mark.
That comment makes me queasy.

I'll have to agree with the above comments. Why you would do this is beyond me. Why you would then admit to it is even more puzzling.

Note to Sherrie Shepard: This is not something to be proud of, you twit. Get yourself some proper birth control.

I so agree. I tape The View and actually had to replay it to make sure she said what I thought she said. Then I began to think "maybe I am behind the times, this is what women think and do today" and "where the heck are her morals"?
I don't condemn any one who feels the necessity to have an abortion, nor do I judge them. I also would never like to see a woman's right (Roe vs. Wade) to have an abortion taken away from her - BUT - to use it as a form of birth control or to admit to having 'more than I could count' just doesn't sit well with me. I lost 3 babies and was told I would never be able to carry one to term before I was literally blessed with my next 3 children. That was back in the day when the only form of birth control was the old 'cross your legs' or rhythm form of birth control, even the pill wasn't used until after I had my first daughter. Now, there are sooooooo many different forms of birth control that for the life of me, I cannot understand why someone would admit to what Sherri did. I am still dumbfounded, but now I think so much less of her for that admission. Maybe some of you will disagree with that statement, but I really have no respect at all for her now.

Obviously she has some BOUNDARY ISSUES - in more ways than one unsure.gif

Not being a watcher of The View, I'd not heard of Sherrie Shepard until I read on Huffpo that the woman believed the world is flat:

It appears she isn't bright. The idea of repeated abortions as birth control is something I'd imagine a heartless and stupid person would do. The physical risks are bad enough.

Lord. Have. Mercy. I can't tolerate "The View," PERIOD.

She appears heartless and stupid, but would you admit something like that on national television? How stupid is that. I was waiting for good two shoes Elisabeth to have an opinion on it, but she said nothing.
