I have to admit a real dislike for this young woman. I have heard her talk and sing and believe me, there truly is much less to be desired. She really can't sing but she obviously has this real hold on the young girls and kids that she targets towards. I think my dislike towards her father, Billy Ray Cyrus doesn't help either. He's now on the coattails of his daughter's success since he, correct me if I'm wrong, really hasn't done much other than star on that dumb kids show with his daughter since his only one time big hit, Achy Breaky Heart.
I just do not get the allure of this young woman. She can't SING! I think she's lucky and with so many untalented singers out in the music business, "She's a natural to get big", IMO.
Okay, I had to get that off my chest here.
Say what you will on here about her or join me in your loathing of this person, LOL!!!
I'm sure there might be some redeeming value to this young woman but I just do NOT SEE IT.
I know she's not doing Lindsay Lohan antics so that's one good thing I can honestly say.
But "Miley Cyrus just gets on my nerves!!!!!"
Okay, my rant is over...

Eh.
The cynic in me thinks that her target audience isn't yet sophisticated enough to understand that they're the focus of a marketing campaign.

I liked Billy Ray Cyrus in Doc because that show espoused ethics and values that were very refreshing in a sea of murder and mayhem. Therefore I was very disappointed to see his daughter going the polished up, photoshopped starlet route. I was hoping she would be a wholesome holdout for more down-to-earth values but she's starting to look like a cookie-cutter person famous for being famous.

Well, I like Miley! I think she is a much better role model than say someone like Britney Spears or her sister who recently had a baby at the age of 17. I think her parents really watch her closely and chaperone her better than Britney's or Lindsey Lohans parents do. It's kind of refreshing to have a young girl whose mother goes on tour with her and watches over her. Now, I also love The Jonas Brothers!

The TV show is better than I'd expected, and I've seen a few of them. I like that father and daughter don't seem to take themselves too seriously - kind of a Drew Barrymore vibe. They both seem to enjoy this time in the spotlight and not especially spoiled.
I also have to say that at least Miley is fully clothed and not pawning off skimpy, tawdry bits of nothings (Spice Girls, anyone?) called clothing.
But, yeah...she's Everywhere. And it's getting rather tiresome.

I think she is very definitely overexposed. But what goes up must come down. Remember when Jessica Simpson was everywhere? It'll pass.

I always wince (well have been since I outgrew Shaun Cassidy and Lance Kerwin) at the kiddoe's latest flavour de jour , just wait it out knowing the fall happen and a new one is on the horizon.
I am glad mine are past it , the Spice Girls and Britney heyday were ..... uhm , tricky.
Paybacks I guess ,I put my parents through ACDC , at a very very young age.

That reminds me of my daughter, several years ago, listening to the "Spice Girls" and "Hanson". I said, "In 5 years the Spice Girls won't be around." She said, "NO! It's not true!"

Times are tough now, all over. And she represents "country girl who has it all" to a wide swath of young girls, I imagine. The Shirley Temple of 2008, maybe?

Lucky for me, I have boys so "Hannah Mania" has not hit my house! I would agree that she is a much better role model than Paris, Britney or Lindsey. I also think Miley/Hannah is overexposed but I'd guess as she grows older, her appeal to the younger set will fade, and like Lindsey, she will have to try and reinvent her image to appeal to an older (and male!) demographic. Perhaps that is what those those controversial pictures earlier this year were about?
On a side note, Hannah/Miley's concert last fall in Kansas City created quite the sensation. People were paying ridiculous prices and going to any length possible to get tickets. A neighbor of mine would not reveal how much she paid so her 5-yo daughter could go, but I'm guessing it set them back at least $1000! This concert sold out faster (9 minutes!) than several other "big" acts including Elton John and Garth Brooks. Only Tina Turner, who sold out in 2 minutes, was a faster sellout!

In all fairness to the performers, this sort of thing is a racket with the venues/ticket agents and the brokers/legal scalpers. The "brokers" buy up all the good seats and then raise the prices and sell them like commodities. I think the biggest stink around HM's concert was that the fan club members were promised good seats, but didn't get them because the brokers managed to snatch up all the good seats first. It amazes me that some guy on the street can be arrested for doing this, but "brokers" are golden.

ETA, I have a boy, so Hannah Montana makes barely a blip in our household. Thank goodness!

Snicker...I can't help it, all the moms out there saying "I've got boys, so there's no interest here"...
Wait. For. It.
Unfortunately I am cynical enough to sense the likelihood of her 'pulling a Britney' when the time/puberty comes. She's a very pretty young girl.

I *do* hope tho' that I'm wrong!

Well, she's fifteen years old so she's well into puberty. I'd say her she's now attempting to break out of the whole Disney/tween straitjacket. If she's to have any kind of independent grown-up career in showbusiness, she needs to do it soon so that when she's an adult and can no longer pretend to be a young girl her career isn't dead in the water. This is a rather treacherous time for her. Depending on her personality and her family's values, it can go either way. So many other child stars have crashed and burned in trying to make the transition from child star to grown-up actor/singer/personality.

I agree with the consensus that she is NOT LIKE PARIS HILTON or LINDSAY LOHAN, Thank God. That is a good thing.
I guess when all the hype and over media attention, there will be always another to take her place anyway. I don't know why I let dumb stuff bug me at times, oh well! LOL

As much as I like her, I doubt that she will carry her stardom and fan base into much of her adulthood. She is a teeny bopper thing right now and little girls love her. Someone will come down the pike to replace her so I hope that she enjoys it while it last and invests her money wisely.

All I can add is that one of my favorite naughty jokes comes courtesy of Billy Ray Cyrus' one hit wonder.... but I doubt I'm allowed to post it here.
