A as in Apple
I saw the movie Friday. Thought it was good, although maybe not quite as thought-provoking as X-Filers are used to. Gillian Anderson does an outstanding job. Anyone else seen it yet?

Haven't seen it, am waiting for it to come out on dvd.

I'm a definite fan of the show, in fact, I've been watching the first few seasons on dvd the last few days.

Another fan here. I'll see it on DVD.
GalileosDaughter
I used to love the show.

I'm wary of the movie, though, I read a review on Slate that said that:

The movie doesn't deal with the "deep mythology" of the alien invasion and rather is of the "monster-of-the-week" type.

so I'm probably going to wait until it comes out on DVD.

I will definitely go see it in the theater even if it got a very low rating on Rotten Tomatoes Movie Site.

I will always be an X Files Fan. Have all of the DVDs and can't wait to see this new movie. I will probably wait until DVD however, because the cost of a movie theatre, etc. is foreboding and I want to own it.

I think it's an unexpectedly thoughtful movie that perhaps shouldn't have been a summer release. If everyone waits for the DVD there won't be any more X Files movies.

Good point, mrcmikej. It's a challenge, on the one hand to support the movies and moviemakers we like against the desire to save money. I think studios are starting to take video rentals and sales more into consideration but the box office gross is still their number one indicator as to interest. And if Chris Carter can't make a movie that gets people to part with $10-$12/person, then well it just isn't worth the money to make another one in the future. They'll instead make Batman sequels instead since apparently people will shell out the money for right now.
