I've never seen such a palethera of glitches.............how could anything be so hard and so frustrating. Anybody else had problems with this outfit?
Morticia Addams
Glorious, my DH tried signing up. He told me that after seeing the glitches he realised we wouldn't be saving a significant amount over Verizon.

Verizon? I'm talking about the home phone not my cell. I already have my cell on Verizon.
Demetrue
After a year of static phone calls, people complaining they couldn't hear us, etc, we dropped it. Yeah, it saved us a lot of money, but wasn't worth the aggravation.

Interesting. On a quest to save some dough, DH just switched us from Comcast cable to Direct TV, and was planning to switch us to Vonage over our current telephone service. Now I'm wondering if we shouldn't stay put....

Glo - Depending where you live, I guess, some of us (like me) have Verizon for home phone service. (I also have Verizon DSL.)

Then there is the whole tsuris that arises when you want to d/c the service... It's gonna cost ya!

Believe it or not.............My Verizon where I live is awful! My cell that is. Guaranteed to drop calls where I live.
Gotta go back to something else...........maybe I'll be guaranteed to drop calls but at least I'll get roll over minutes. I'm NOT a fan of cell phones but I realize they're a necessity. You won't find me on the cell phone for just fun. I feel like I'm yelling............
Gimme a land line anyday. tongue.gif Besides, I need to concentrate when I drive. I'm not slowing down.

Gloria, have you ever heard of Magic Jack? www.magicjack.com I don't have it, but I've heard it works great. Might be worth checking into. As far as your cell service droppig calls, you've probably tried this already, but I gotta ask - have you tried "rebooting" your phone? If ours stars dropping, a reboot will usually take care of it.

I hadVonage a few years back and it was AWFUL!!!!! And just try calling a Vonage technician. but it was hard I've nothing against people of other nations, but it was hard to understand them and they couldn't understand me. I agree with Demetrue about static calls as well as dropped calls and just overall not working. I should be given my money back just for the aggravation.

We have had Vonage for about two years with few problems. Only once was there something weird, a caller told me she heard a fax tone and then it hung up! I just assumed she called the wrong number!

I can't tell you how many nations I've talked to! And YES............they all earned their money that day!! Oh boy! The frustrations of not being able to understand people! UGH!
Actually my Vonage has setteled down for the moment. The hardest thing was there is NOBODY to help you install your system ......... I have a friend who has a masters in Computers and she helped me. I can work a computer but don't ask me how it works o.k.??
As you all know............I don't know a modem from a modum. Same **** thing to me!

I've never heard of Magic Jack. I'll check it out.
My girlfriend has a 3G on her cell phone. She never drops calls. I think I should switch carriers though. Even Verizon said they'd let me out of my contract. They know my service isn't good.

Gloria, I can certainly see why you are upset. It is very aggravating to have problems with your phone service.

I just switched from AT&T and went with T-Mobile. They have a new service called hot spot @ home. If you have cell phone service with them you can buy a router which connects your phone service through your computer and it only cost $10 a month for unlimited local and long distance calling; excluding international calling. You also get call waiting, voice mail, & caller i.d. So far the service has been very good. I don't have any problems with clarity, it's just the same as before. The only thing is I can't do any faxing (I will miss that feature and hope they will add it in the future) and my caller i.d. does not show time and date, only name and number. I don't much like that. You also have to sign a 2 year contract so I hope it continues to work well for us. I was so fed up AT&T and their high prices.

About the MagicJack. It costs around $40 initially, which includes the first year of service. After the first year it costs $19.95 a year. QVC is selling it so maybe it's ok. I read that your computer has to have either an Intel Mac or Windows XP or Vista.

And here I thought I responded to this thread, when in fact I didn't. Senior moment. tongue.gif

We had Vonage for a year a few years ago and I hated every minute of it. Scratchy calls, hollow sound, and, worst of all, NO 911 and no service during power outages. We kept the absolute minimum landline service just so we could have 911 and some sort of emergency home phone, meaning that we had an extra set of phones in the house. It was ridiculous. (Yeah, in theory, your cell should work, but tell that to people who lived through 9/11.) I was never so happy as when we went back to the regular landline. Glo, if you have your cell service through Verizon, you may be able to cut a good deal for your regular phone (we did), as Verizon tends to like to reward folks with multiple services. If you have a high speed internet connection with them, even better.

If you have Vonage, I urge you strongly to make sure that you have your bases covered with this. Many of you are in remote areas, I know. Make sure you have 911 service!

I have comcast for high speed internet. I had the package deal. NOW I have another problem with Vonage. I am back in real estate. I had to purchase a Supra Key of course to get me into houses. The Supra key that I bought says not to plug the cradle into a digital line!! I'm going to try to talk to these people who are probably in India or Pakistan or worse...........I hate it. I could get so frustrated that I go back to regular lines. I have a neighbor with a masters in computer science who loves Vonage and just thinks that I'm not computer literate. So................here I go..........another glitch!!! mad.gif

My Verizon issue is a totally other issue which is my cell phone. Verizon does NOT work well where I live. It was great where I used to live. Gotta get another phone but it'll cost me $$. angry.gif

Mr. Diva was a computer science major, and he gave up on Vonage. I say cut your losses and go back to a landline.
