YAY! Something new from Alan Ball. Thanks, this is the first I've heard of it. The other cable show I'm enjoying immensely (not on right now..but...) is Big Love.

Have you watched Dexter on Showtime? It's great if you like things a little dark.

My BFF referred me to Mad Men, I have watched the first show of the second season. It seems like something I will like. I love the time period, the 60's! It is comforting to me to watch shows of that era.

I am Dexter's biggest fan!!! Can't wait for the new season to start. Funny isn't it, I am the eternal caregiver (nurse for 35 years) and love the DARK SIDE. My nurse friends do though, also........must be a nurse thing.

I beg to differ, *I* am DEXTER's BIGGEST FAN!

Just kidding.

I used to be a teacher. Maybe the helper/caregiver professions need an outlet! LOL.

I can't wait for Dexter to start up again either. The last season so so so good.

I don't get HBO either.

I absolutely loved SIX FEET UNDER. It was one of the fewest things on TV to really "keep it real" and come from a "true" space.... I love that quality... I have no need, generally, to crawl up my own backside with fiction and wishful thinking... SFU was good, the acting was super, and I hope to see what this new show is like.

I understand DEXTER is a big hit in the UK now as well...

*LOL*

I do admit that it's one of the few shows that I make a point of being home to see. It's a wicked addiction.

I take a lot of heat from people who do not watch the series, or who have only watched one or two episodes. Apparently it offends their tender sensibilities. I dunno.
These are usually the same folks who think "Weeds" is some great commentary on what a single mother must go through and DO to raise to children these days... huh.gif
Yes, I cannot watch one episode of "Weeds" without getting totally pissed at some point or other, and I KNOW it's just a television show.
I guess it's because I've never known any of the pot-heads, of whom these defenders speak, who are so creative and artistic and who smoke the stuff to help with inspiration.
I've only known the kind of pot-head who lacks motivation and who sits around with music blaring while watching a television with the sound muted...while eating Cheetos dipped in peanut butter -- or the single mother dealers who have lost their children when they got busted...
Ah, yes, art imitates life...sometimes...
I guess it's like a modern day "Soap"...throw in bongs, gangs, arson...matricide -- a real comic ride for the new millenium.
Can you tell I had sarcasm dripping from my fingers while typing that out? *LOL*
I know, I know. I'm way too harsh, but I just watched several episodes of it last night, back-to-back, because I couldn't find the remote and was too lazy to try to find it, and I'm still feeling twinges of disgust and anger.
Sorry for making this a rant. mellow.gif

Hi there,

I *used* to watch Weeds. The first season I found relatively amusing, in a light fluffy nonsense sortof way.

But I've stopped watching it now. I like Mary Louise Parker, but her character has gone off the deep end. She (the character) is an embarrassment to single mothers and women in general now! I do realize I was giving her character a lot of slack in the beginning, during the first 2 seasons.

At this point the children are completely aware of the pot dealing, the oldest son is involved, innocent people have gone to jail, Mary Louise Parker burned down her own house and they now live in the grandmother's house. All this awful stuff has happened and yet she still won't just get a bloody job!! She's still trying to deal pot and I fail to see the interest anymore.

So, I agree with your rant. Weeds is horrid and this is from someone who found it amusing the first 2 seasons.

But I am so looking forward to Dexter, Big Love and the new Alan Ball show. Oh, and The Wire was *amazing* - I'm so sad it's over.

Cheers!

CHARDKAY
I love Big Love as well and can't wait for it to return. Weeds, I think, is good for 2 more seasons. I love the one after the show, The Confessions of a Call Girl, or something like that. Regular television has become so inane and attune to the mind of a 9 year old that I barely watch it.
