Yep. I found my grandmother's house and the whole 360 degree view all around her house! Her house was NOTHING special. It's a great tool for online
real estate however.

You can put in an address and see a whole lot on Google earth. Most of the time it's just from the air.........but sometimes........more.

Maybe I don't worry enough, or I'm just plain stupid, but that doesn't bother me at all...

On the google "street view", you can't see anything that can't be seen by a passerby anyway. The aerial views are different, though. Only a bird or a determined helocipter pilot had views like those until now...
That said, I don't see either one as particular threats. It's important to remember that google takes these photos once and that's the image that plays for ever after (unless they send the camera out again to update.) It's not like bad guys have a live stream of pictures of my block. THAT would be a tool for stalkers/burglers.

They update the photos from time to time. The BF has seen different shots of his place from the air over the past couple of years.

I suppose you could always paint your door a different color and swap out your plants to fool someone. Still, I'll wait for the first lawsuit when someone has been killed by a stalker using Google earth to find his victim.

I'm not sure why Google Earth is being called the culprit - if a stalker got enough information about someone and got the victim's address, how does having a picture of the house versus a regular street map view make a difference? These cameras take a one-or-two time shot, they don't film continuously or give a live feed. And I'm sorry, but considering the UK is now covered in CCTVs controlled by the government, why is a private company taking static shots being critiqued for invading privacy?

This type of technology is characteristic of the Age of Aquarius, in which we now are and will be for the next 1800-2000 years or so. Privacy will go by the wayside as it is already in the throes of doing and things that would have been considered personal or private in the prior age (Age of Pisces) will be uncovered and revealed for all to see. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, so we may as well get used to it. That's my resigned take, FWIW.

Yes, cameras are everywhere, so maybe Simon Le Bon should have done this in private:
