4" heels are just a bit too much for me. I wish I could wear these, they're at Payless and they're cheap! Does anyone know of any websites/B & M stores that might have something in this style with a bit lower heel? Thanks.
Rosebud, I have a pair almost exactly like those, but I think the heels are about 3 inches. They are by Robert Clergerie.

They look like a pair of shoes a really scary mean old school marm/spinster would wear like in the movie "The Prime of Jean Brodie" LOL!!!
Just being honest!
Hey if they work for you, cool!

Thank you Velvet and Cazaubon! I just clicked your link, Mary, and I adore those shoes. Caz, found your shoes, too, and I really like those. Decisions, decisions.
Hey Mando, I AM a mean old spinster librarian! Pretty close!

I have two or three pair along the same lines, but in boots. I wear them a lot, but the most recent purchase I made of them was about two years ago. I can't do a high heel, and with my big freak feet, I have to snatch them up when I see them.

Doesn't have the lace-up front, but does have the patent leather thing going on:
I just bought these:
In brown but I'm considering black too.
ETA: These are Aerosoles. I like comfy.

Well, nothing identical so I suppose it depends on which aspects of the shoe most appeal to you...these are less dressy but sort of the same idea. Do you still want: patent, pointed heel, wing-tip style detail work...?
Thank you for all the ideas, everybody. Sharil! Thank you! I had no idea that Born had something in this style. I love Born shoes and I really like the look of the shoes you posted the link to on Shoeline.com They are a little pricey, but probably really well made and comfortable.

Rufus and I are nearly perfume twins. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised his opinion on those very butch shoes was like mine!
I was hoping somebody would post links to sexy nice shoes which aren't ankle twisters!

Aww c'mon, Morticia! I am at the far end of the 'butch' spectrum. I could actually see Morticia Addams wearing those shoes with ease.
