I thought that I didn't have a "lucky" perfume, but I realized that I always wore No. 19 when I needed strength.
And today, I'm wearing Be Delicious, and several good things have happened so far, so maybe it should be my "lucky" perfume!
Do you have any perfume that you consider "lucky" or that you have imbued with "talismanic" powers?

Hmm. Come to think of it, there is something magical about three of my favourties:
Jicky, Feminite du Bois and Dzing!
Maybe it's just that I'm the most comfortable wearing those. Ot maybe they really have magic properties.

Not lucky, but certain scents give that feeling of the day having unlimited potential for good. Etro Patchouly is like that for me, and recently Warm Sand.. which is more of an "everything is right in the world" feeling. Paloma Picasso has a mystical feel to it, which feels strong.

Well, not "lucky", really...but strong and centered.
I always grab Le Baiser du Dragon when I feel I need ... something extra.

Bandit and Fahrenheit. Something uncanny and synergistic in them, like being driven faster while driving fast. Subtract any connotation there of the perfume wearing you.

GD, what an interesting question! That's one aspect of perfume that has not crossed my mind before. Now that I come to think of it though, there is a perfume that I associate with fortuitous beginnings. It was the perfume I was wearing when I started my new life in Canada; it was the perfume I was wearing when a new good era began at my workplace, and it has been in my repertoire for many decades and gotten me compliments. Believe it or no, it's:
Youth Dew!

For me, it's Agent provacateur - it brings out a feminine energy that is strong, but mystical.

It would probably be Feminite du Bois, although I do wear Eau des Merveilles when I need extra clarity and confidence.

Since I've been trying out some perfume oils of late, I frequently wear some of them for their "intent" as well as their scent. One called Bravado - whose intention is to give the wearer a feeling of protection, for having a "knight on a white horse" so to speak - and for me, it does!

I think I must've told this story here once before, but the day when I was about to meet a publisher to discuss a book, I thought long and hard about which perfume to wear, and settled on vintage Femme extrait, for various reasons, one of which was that Edmond Roudnitska had had a long and successful career and was himself an author.
At the end of the meeting, when the contract was signed, I asked the publisher where the Frédéric Malle shop was from her office (I knew it was in the area), because I wanted to smell a perfume by Roudnitska, Le Parfum de Thérèse. She immediately answered that she had know Edmond and Thérèse Roudnitska quite well, as she used to work for Rochas. And that Femme was her darling perfume, that she couldn't wear the reformulation and was heartbroken about it!
I volunteered to find her some on eBay. And by an incredible stroke of luck, a lady was selling a whole stock of vintage Femme, which she's listed that very day! I won several and was able to reunite my publisher and her signature fragrance. Our collaboration was off to a flying start, the book came out, sold well, so...
I guess vintage Femme is my lucky perfume.
I also wore, God knows why, red panties that day. Now when I need luck, it's Femme + red panties... Go figure.

That's another great turn of phrase. Wonderful!
And Carmencanada, that combination of vintage Femme and red underwear sounds positively
dangerous!! Are you sure there aren't some EU regulations against it?

I didn't think I had a lucky perfume until I recalled that I was wearing Tabac Blond when I interviewed for my current job. I remember walking out of there feeling invincible, that I absolutely nailed it, which was borne out when I was offered the position within the week. So Tabac Blond it is.

The long answer: it depends on the chemistry of the wearer and the perceptions/preferences of the perceiver. The guy in question may be anosmic to most musks. Or maybe vanilla reminds him of his grandmother.
The short answer (to quote Tania Sanchez in Perfumes: The Guide): bacon.

"Lucky" is not the word i've used so much... "talismanic" is my preferred descriptor.
A talisman being a charm/pendant/ring/jewel one wears, and in doing so, can prevent all ills befalling him.
SHALIMAR EDP does this to me. One the days I wear it, I always have the heady feeling that no ill could possibly befall me.
And indeed, in a mind-over-matter way, it seems to work exactly thus!
Then again, the notes in SHALIMAR are really the "biggies" of all human history: sandalwood, rose, patchouly, vetiver, bergamot, jasmin, rosewood, lemon, cassia... these are all notes used in aromatherapy for increasing the "good vibes", say, during massage or spa treatments, so this "talismanic" factor cannot be an accident IMHO.

carmen, you have a nekkid lady for a first lady?
I was just talking today with a buddy of mine... he had been a pornstar during the heady SoCal, "Boogie Nights" days of the late 1970's, early-80's... He says that Americans would flip if they only knew some of the antics that California's current governor got up to in those days...

He witnessed them firsthand, and, believe me, my friend is a guy who doesn't have to lie about anything.

I was wondering when somebody would do a double-take on this picture...
Yup, Carla Bruni, now the 3rd Mrs Sarkozy (he married her, like, two months after divorcing wife N°2 who had left him), is an Italian heiress, a former supermodel, a serial man-eater (she's got Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Donald Trump on the list, and that's just the ones you'd know) and a singer-songwriter.
Now she dresses up in a demure Jackie Kennedy-style, but there you go : with that kind of First Lady, French women can definitely go on being as sexy as all get-out. Not that they'd waited for her to do it.

What's up with that? She goes on and on about how she's still a free woman, does what she wants etc, etc, but suddenly she dresses all frumpy. Bah!

It's interesting: she's actually quoting a ready-made Jackie O style, and the press just goes gaga, as though she'd invented it. I'm not sure she knew exactly what she was in for when she married after that whirlwind courtship: she just saw she was bagging the biggest game possible, an actual president.

Dave, I wish there were more male fragrances that smelled like
Shalimar. I am easy to please as far as female fragrances, but there is something in many male fragrances that make me feel sick. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it. My husband has a sample each of the 2
Divine male fragrances, and he has
Jovan Sex Appeal For Men, and he doesn't have
Jovan White Musk for Men, and he has
Canoe, but I like all of those. I gave him some
Grey Flannel which I did like, but he didn't, and gave it away.
