Full Version: Mini Perfume Sniffa In Manchester

The weather was lovely in Manchester, beautiful warm sunshine. We get back to dismal Dewsbury and it's cloudy. Warm though.

Sniffed Roja's Enslved yet again and I am still not sure about it. I do like it, but not sure if I could spend £95 on a 100ml of EDP, I always prefer 50ml bottles just in case I get bored of a scent after a while, although it is a very special scent When we first went into Roja's place, Derrick, an amazing SA had gone on his break, so we chatted to an older SA called Eileen who loved talking about perfume with us. We chatted about Caron and Guerlain. We said that we would go back later and see Derrick. After that we chatted with the Kenneth Green SA about Lutens scents. She said that they have Serge Noire on order ready for when it's launched. Si got some samples of Ambre Sultan and Un Bois Vanille. She said that sometimes customers come up to her and ask if they stock Britney's fragrance and she tells them that they would be better off going to somewhere like Superdrug for it. She also gave us a sample of Jasmin Noir from Bvlgari.

From there we went into Selfridges, had a smooch around and discovered the Chanel Boutique. They actually sell the full Les Exclusives line. I tried the Cologne and the Coromandel, they had all the others too. I fell in love with the Coromandel, but seeing as the Les Exclusives are only available in 200ml for £140. Again, I thought that the bottle was just too big and I passed on buying one. I sniffed the sprayer on the Sycomore, or whatever it's called, but it was too much Vetiver for my liking. I loved the magnetic caps. I think I also sniffed the sprayer of La Pausa (?) and smelt the civet note in it. I asked Si what he could smell and as usual, he was very polite and said 'It smells familiar', I said 'Pee' and he got the giggles.

I got home and there was a package awaiting me. A very kind perfume angel had sent me a bottle of Patricia de Nicolai's Cedrat Intense. Imagine an even classier version of Chanel Pour Monsieur, that's the Cedrat Intense. I am in love!

Barry you had the Northern version of my London Sniffa! Sounds like fun, too. You got some lovely samples.

I have the giant bottle of Coromandel; it is a shame that it doesn't come in a smaller version.

Glad you had fun and also had a companion to share the sniffing with.

Barry, somehow your post put me in mind of the famous film, It's A Wonderful Life. In the end a bell tinkles on the Christmas tree and someone says every time you hear a bell it means a new angel has gotten its wings in heaven. Well we've been having a lot of mini-sniffas lately by many perfumistas and I'm thinking every time a perfumista reports on a mini-sniffa, a new angel has gotten its wings in perfume heaven!

Thanks for the virtual tour! I got to smell Les Exclusifs briefly in Bergdorf's recently and the one I liked enough to buy (although to date I have not) was Bel Respiro. That's twice I've run through them at a speedy pace. Next time I come across the line I promise myself to take my time sniffing and test a few as well.

Enjoy all your samples and the new de Nicolai!

Nice write up, Baz on your scent excursion. I love Coromandel too. I wish I could afford it. But then again I had made myself afford Tom Ford's Amber Absolute not too long ago so what makes me from buying Coromandel any different? LOL

Oh well, Cool, you got and like Parfums de Nicholai Cedrat Intense. I haven't smelled it yet but if it smells like Pour Monsieur Chanel (the first original one which is gorgeous but fleeting) then great!

I still marvel at her New York fragrance which to me is just magnificent. I don't wear it often but when I do, I always re-fall in love with it every time!

Thank you fiordiligi, 5-0 and Mando..oops, I mean Rufus.

I might have sniffed the spray top of the Bel Respiro, I can't remember. I was just so giddy at finding them and then playing with the magnetic caps. I love reading other people's sniffa reports, so I thought that it's about time that I added one of my own.

Roof, yes the Cedrat is amazing.

Can't wait to sniff the Cedrat, that is one of my favorite smells. L'Occitane use to make a scent called Cedrat Pomelo that I loved, sadly long discontinued.

My favorite exclusifs are No. 18 and Cuir de Russie, but I could never in this lifetime get through 200mls of anything, so I wouldn't purchase. Fortunately a lovely POLer offered me some decants for my birthday this year so I can enjoy them!

I will be going out sniffing next weekend, will give a report on my return.

Great recap, Barry! I also wish those Exclusifs came in a smaller size. I like Coromandel best, also enjoy Cuir de Russie and No 22. I didn't care for Sycomore either, it was too much oppressive one note vetiver for me.

Enjoy your new samps and the Cedrat Intense! Hope Si enjoys Ambre Sultan and Un Bois Vanille, I love them both.

Thanks for the enjoyable read, dear.

I knew that all along Mando. I was being daft.

Glad you enjoyed the little report Terry. Si wore the Un Bois Vanille today.
