Toronto was rocked by several blasts in the wee hours this morning , the full story in this link.

I have been following the story all morning , many questions and angry residents.

I hope everyone is safe and sound!

There's something about a propane factory in a residential area that defies logic. One hopes there are no fatalities or injuries (although I heard one person is missing and a firefighter was rushed to the hospital). My heart goes out to the victims.

Hope everyone's well.

Good grief this gave me chills watching it on the news. When the explosions happened and there were several, people did not know what was happening. It was like a war zone. So far one fireman has died and a plant employee is missing. I can't imagine the death toll if this had happened during a busy week day!!!!

A Toronto resident here saying thank you to all for your kind thoughts. Condolences and sympathies to the injured, families of the deceased, evacuees. Many friends heard the blasts, hunkered down terrified, unsure of what had occurred for many hours, still shaken, children and pets moreso. Given my location I heard nothing and found out the next day on the weather and news channel. A sobering time for the city, a sad and deadly lesson that defies hindsight as foresight alone should prevent such planning.

According to Radio Canada, the plant was built AFTER the residential area, and some residents protested, but the government allowed it anyway. Reminds me of the plant explosion in Toulouse about 10 years ago, which caused a lot of death and destruction. These types of plants should be located FAR away from residential areas!
