I live in New Jersey, where it's swampy hot and humid all summer. I'm at that point where I can't wait for Fall to arrive and along with it a whole slew of new fragrances choices. The 10 perfumes I'm looking forward to wearing again are:
1. Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur
2. Givenchy Organza Indecence
3. Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir
4. Jean Patou Joy
5. Bond No 9 - the new Lexington Avenue
6. Givenchy Amarige
7. Soivohle' Underworld
8. Serge Lutens Rousse
9. Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
10. Caron Farnesiana
Most of these are a tad sweet. I'm craving sweet because I steer clear of anything sweet or cloying in heat/humidity. I can't wait to break out my fall fragrances!!

Persephone, I don't usually work that way in that my perfume wearing is not seasonally determined. However, that said, I usually get a yen to wear Youth Dew in the late summer-early fall, because it's the annivesary of when I was wearing it when I first came to Canada. Other than that, I'm looking forward to wearing Un Jardin Après la Mousson in the fall to see how it smells in the cooler weather. I've been wearing it most of the summer and it's great for heat and humidity. Just wondering what it will be like in the cool and cold air.
P.S. I hope you will be able to attend next time a group gets together in the New York Metropolitan region!

Not a seasonal type myself , however , I have found that the likes of Rousse and Douce Amere just bloom with bracing weather, just like I have others that go with rain.
I am glad I realised this factoid about the Lutens' or I would have dismissed both as nothing special.

I'm so new to PoL - will the date be posted when a NYC area gathering is planned? I'd love to join.
I've always done all my sniffing solo - so it would be an interesting experience to meet a group of perfume addicts like myself and sniff our way around manhattan :-D

When a group gets together a thread is posted, so as many as possible can attend and in enough time to give people a chance to organize ahead. It certainly is an interesting experience and more fun than you can shake a stick at! (I'm not sure that shaking a stick at fun is the right expression but you know what I mean!

Perfume is a relatively new obsession to me, so this will be my first winter with a full collection if fumes to choose from. My top 10 to visit in the cooler weather are:
1. Serge Lutens Muscs Koublaï Khan
2. Chanel Cuir de Russie
3. Chanel Bois des Îles
4. Comme des Garçons Kyoto
5. Serge Lutens Mandarine Mandarin
6. Parfumerie Generale L'Oiseau de Nuit
7. Guerlain Vol de Nuit
8. Annick Goutal Sables
9. L'Artisan Timbuktu
10. L'Artisan Dzing!

I've kinda broken out of the seasonal wearing too, like 5-O said. I used to be really into chypres and leathers during fall - favourites with strong fall association include Mitsouko, Femme, Feuilles de Tabac. Now I am not sure what I will be into. I may break my pattern as I will be in Israel in early fall, so it's going to be an olfactory adventure... I've been leaning towards lighter scents lately - Le Parfum de Therese, Un Jardin Apres la Mousson - so it would be interesting to see if I want something different come fall.

I think I have 2 seasons for perfume, cold and hot, or summer and winter. I will wear Light Blue in every season but winter. So, there are some like these that are transitional fragrances.

I tend to pay more attention to certain temps and conditions than the actual seasons , like my earlier examples which need a nice breeze to be fully appreciated.
I have had beloved frags turn sinister on me in humidity only to find they behave better during a cool shower , Lolita being a prime example OR in the case of Hiris , a scent easily worn anytime is one I appreciate more in the rain.
Ivoire is one most love to wear in the spring or summer , not for me though. The very first time I dabbed this on I thought it unremarkable then I walked into a walk in cooler and it just popped for me , not only did I GET it , I fell for it. On the flipside I find Opium easily worn in the summer , ditto for Palazzo , they both seem to have this clean aftershavey thing going on in spite of thier spiciness and do indeed work well in heat.

10's a bit much...I don't think I have so many in my collection that I could single them out for fall alone. The ones I do enjoy in colder weather are Organza, Vanille Canelle, Mitsouko, and Allure.

Well, there isn't much difference between summer and winter weather in the UK these days....so I don't differentiate between seasons for perfume wearing. I am also not keen on light, citrussy fragrances (on me).
However, the other day when it was quite warm I chose to wear Vol de Nuit and I didn't think it worked at all so I think this must be more of a winter scent for me. Today, August - but a miserable day and I am wearing Spiritueuse Double Vanille which many might consider a winter perfume. The joys of living in the UK!

Autumn to me is a special time - my birthday, Halloween, Bonfire Night, falling leaves
and Horse Chestnuts (conkers.) I think of Feminite du Bois, "Y", Douce Amere, Rahat Loukoum,
Bulgari Omnia, Roma, Loulou and Shalimar as my Autumn scents, but most of all I turn to
Sienne L'Hiver by Eau d'Italie. Nothing beats it for atmosphere in the cooler months.

I am looking forwards to breaking out:
Black Cashmere
Mitsouko
L'Heure Bleu
Dioressence
Chergui
Pink Sugar
Messe de Minuit
Youth Dew
Aromatics Elixir
Jungle Elefant
Not that I haven't worn all of these occasionally this summer - but I will wear them more as the weather changes.
Wish I still had my Organza Indecence and my Escada Collection.

I don't tend to wear perfume according to season either, but there is one which I keep for around the Holidays only, Nuit de Noel by Caron both in parfum and EDT. I can tend to be contrary though, longing for spring and summer type scents in autumn!

All the stuff we can't wear in summer here because it's too heavy in the heat! Like:
My leather-based scents: (Vintage) Jolie Madame, Cabochard, Kelly Caleche, a few samples like Knize Ten
Big Chypres: (vintage) Miss Dior, Mitsouko, Paloma Picasso, Diva, Ma Griffe
Orientals/Florals: Bal a Versailles, Shalimar, Joy
Using up all the winter-y samples that would disappear in seconds on my skin in hot weather (and ordering more to replace them)
Retiring the spring/summer stuff (Nil, Green teas, Oxygene, RL Turquoise) because I've gotten a little sick of them (until next spring anyway)

I occasionally will go against the grain and wear a "perfume out of season"
I did wear Coco Saturday, as our weather was a tad cooler with less humidity.
I like Aromatics Elixir for the fall. It feels like a flannel/thermal henley shirt and blue jean scent to me. Sitting at the pop warner football games on a cool Saturday morning, kind of perfume.
For the most part, I intend to start my fall season with my new bottle of Cuir de Russie parfum.

I am so odd when it comes to wearing my fragrances in certain seasons. I don't have any rules about it, but I tend to want to wear what others consider to be the wrong ones for the season we're in. *LOL*
For instance, I love to wear my Orientals in the Summer -- they just bloom and unfurl so beautifully on my skin.
And during the Winter I am craving white florals...or lighter, "cleaner" scents.
I do notice that I have a tendency to wear the very few chypres I own more in the Fall, though -- like Femme (fruity chypre) and Aromatics Elixir. They just smell like Autumn, to me.
Like Cinnabar will always smell like the Christmas/New Year holiday season for me.
I guess I'm looking forward to wearing more of Femme and Aromatics Elixir, since they're probably the only two chypres I really wear -- or crave wearing.

I do wear perfume seasonally. Top autum/winter perfumes for me:
Organza Indecence
Angelique Encens
Bois des Iles
Let me Play the Lion
Imperial Oppoponax
Ambre Narguile
Jubilation XXV
Yves Rocher Cocoon
Esteban Sensuelle Russie
Hypnotic Poison
Nuit de Noel
Tient de Neige
Winter Delice
Looking forward to wearing these. Autumn is my favourite season. I love snuggly jumpers, bonfires, apple pie and curling up at home as the evenings draw in. I will also be wearing my perenials: Allure Sensuelle, Cuir de Russie, Clair de Musc, Amouage Gold and Iris Poudre. I will put aside my very light musks, tea and citrus until summer and florals/greens aside until spring.

There are few perfumes I wear seasonally; I'm mainly looking forward to rotating the full collection once back at work and dressing up. When working from home I go for samples, decants, using things up. Looking forward to most days of the week being 'occasions' and meriting the very best, the special ones, coordinating with nice clothes and mood, the whole ritual. Looking particularly forward to Fahrenheit in the fall, reminding me of my grad school days and questings, and the following ones with a nice suit and heels: Mitsouko, Ambre Russe, Y, Bandit. That Essence of John Galliano and the autumn burning time might be pretty interesting. And for even colder weather, Ambre Narguilé and other sweet things with cashmere sweaters.

CdG Zagorsk, Kyoto and Avignon
Rahat Loukhoum

Bulgari Black

Oh, yeah, the CdG Incense series...so amazing in the cooler weather. I can't wait to wear Avignon and Kyoto.
It's not that I'm following strict rules when it comes to my seasonal/weather-related perfume choices - it's just that I cannot tolerate anything heavy, sweet or cloying in the extreme heat/humidity of a New Jersey summer. If I lived in Maine, Canada or the UK I probably wouldn't have much seasonal distinction. But if I wore Amarige, FM Musc Ravageur, Hermes 24 Faubourg or Kelly Caleche in the heat where I live, I know I'd get a migraine. I'm unfortunately prone to headaches and migraines to begin with - and scents can really trigger them...

There are 2 fragrances I pretty much only wear in the autumn:
-- Euphoria
-- Brandy
Brandy's obvious; spiced apples in a meadow. But why I associate Euphoria just with fall, I don't know.
I'm sure as the weather gets nippier, I'll break out my cold-weather scents that I rarely apply in the heat:
-- Ambre Narguilé (must be very cold, though!)
-- Bois des Iles
-- Anne Pliska
-- Baghari
-- Un Bois Vanille
Bois des Iles and Anne Pliska I'll occasionally break out even in the summer, but the others just feel waaaay too heavy to me in the heat.

Despite my 1000 bottles of perfume, well, something like that, one of my greatest pleasure is still pulling out Shalimar when Fall arrives. After months of searching the rare, the imported, the exclusif, I'm always amazed at Shalimar parfum. There was an article several years ago about return of the classics. It said Shalimar was for those 'who had seen all the rest, and wasn't impressed...' It's not my signature scent, but I am always amazed at it's beauty.

Persephone, something about the subject of this thread was nagging at me and finally it hit me: What I love about this thread and the title is it nonchalantly presumes we have a minimum of 40 perfumes from which to choose a top ten for each of the four seasons! I like to blame this on the fact that where I live there are four distinct seasons and therefore I need perfume wardrobes for each season...

Some of mine are going to make people cringe

.
Chanel Coromandel -- I've been wearing it this summer and it wears beautifully in the heat, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it does in crisper, colder weather. I think it will be marvelous.
Dior Addict -- ditto (and let the cringing commence!)
PdE Ambre Russe -- just too heavy for our sweltering summers. I haven't even used my decant once.
Brandy -- this one just makes me happy. I don't wear it often, but I keep it around for days when I'm nostalgic for college and New England. It smells like a very posh hayride to me (with apples

).
Ginestet BotrytisChopard Casmir -- I only wear this one when it's quite cold out, but have been going back to it for years. I love it. I know it gets almost universally panned, but I wear it very well (I think, anyway!) and find it really enjoyable.

I'm like you! In the coldest darkest of winter I like to wear "comforting" florals that reminds me of summer, and the most comforting of them for me is Kenzo's flower le parfum (red bottle). I also like to wear dark orientals in the summer, especially in warm summer nights & into and thorough the autumn. Hesperide ones, and tea, although, I seldom use outside the early summer season. Late winter and spring I need light and sunlight evoking scents!
