I love Steve Carell but never got out to see Dan in Real Life, even though it got good reviews. The TV spots didn't grab me. Well, clearly the marketing dept. had no clue how to sell this flick. If you like character driven stories and foreign art house type films, this is for you.

Steve Carell is a fine dramatic actor with some comedic bits and the cast is impressive -- Juliette Binoche, Dianne Wiest, John Mahoney (Frasier's dad) and Dane Clark, standup comedian, who is surprisingly good. It's a heartwarming film about an extended family. I don't want to spoil it, so rent it next time and be pleasantly surprised. Then watch the Bonus Features on filming this project and you will appreciate it even more.
