Remember that I'd ordered my dd a college perfume and myself a bottle of Cuir de russie? When I returned the CdR and order a BdI in it's place...well turns out the order got sent to the wrong person and didn't make it here. The manager overnighted it for me because it was their mistake.

The original SA had told me that she would put in a bottle of #22, so I mentioned that to him. He said not a problem.

Well - he threw in 3 -# 22's and a #18, the eau de Cologne and a bottle of Coromandel - AND a full size of No5 toilette. A spray refil. Very nice of him/them.

The #22 is VERY pretty. I like it alot!

Here's the thing. It smelled just like what I remember my aunts bathroom smelling like in the mid to late 60's. I never remember seeing a bottle of anything mellow.gif It was just that everytime I went into her bathroom it had a "nice smell". I assumed it was the zest soap. huh.gif Years later remembering that smell, I picked up, sniffed and bought a bar of Zest(not what we normally use) to see if I could "copy" the smell. It sorta smelled like it but not quite.

After I got the samples of #22, it made me wonder.....was it really her perfume, that I'd smelled???? She would have been the type to wear it.

I'm not sure when #22 originally came out.

Ok...am I off my rocker or does anyone else smell/think Zest soap when they smell #22???

It's really funny that you ask this Fumebag because sometimes our en suite bathroom smells really nice and I can never figure out what the smell is. I don't use smelly cleaning products, detergents or air fresheners and I don't keep any perfumes in there. But more often than not there is a lovely smell and it's just that particular bathroom. I was starting to think it was the tile grout! biggrin.gif
The smell I am talking about is like the smell of clean sheets after they come in from the clothes line (remember the days). I am always thinking that I would love to bottle it because it is so clean and fresh. I have to go and get me some #22 to smell tomorrow. I don't think I have ever smelled Zest soap huh.gif

Fumebag, between you and Prince Barry, I'd say you have cornered the market on SA largesse for the next twenty years!!!!!!!!!

Amazing customer service!

Well, No.22 is aldehydes on a Woofer set of speakers at full volume, and aldehydes do read as soapy very often (or waxy-powdery), so it might be that she actually did and that the "soap" you were smelling was that. And that wouldn't be far off, if you thought it was soap.
The timeline definitely allows for it, since it was already an old fragrance in the 60s.

Then again it might be the Zest (which I've never smelled).

It was infact at the Chicago store. Actually, the Manager of the store is who sent all the goodies. And YES a whole bottle of No 5 EDT! The SA that I had dealt with was really nice and she had thrown in samples and told me that she was going to put in some #22. The manager told me when I called that what happened was they had sent it to another person with my first name and a last name with the first two letters of mine. I guess the SA just clicked on the list of names in the computer and the first name with my first and the letters of my second name, by accident.

I really feel fortunate that the person wasn't at home to accept the package! WHEW! When I called they checked the order and first told me it had been atempted to be delivered but there was no one there. I told him, someone was here the whole entire time, so I didn't believe that. That's when he checked into it. He got right on it, and I had the box in my hand at 8:25 the next morning!

It was amazing, that's for sure!

I really am thinking it was her perfume. She was a classy lady.
