It's a helluva lot cheaper than waiting to be sued and good publicity to boot!

Yes, certainly much better publicity than when Matthew Broderick ran into a car in Ireland and killed a 63 year old mother and her 30 year old daughter -- and paid a $175.00 fine.

Broderick was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and faced up to five years behind bars. He was later convicted of the lesser charge of careless driving and fined just $175 - which had the victims' stunned family calling the case "a travesty of justice."

Granted, he also spent four weeks in the hospital with injuries of his own, but c'mon -- $175.00? George Clooney would have shelled out at least 100 times that amount. tongue.gif

I rememember the Matthew Broderick incident. I think he forgot to drive on the other side of the road and was driving on the wrong side of the road. I remember thinking that it sounded like something I might have done. But, how awful, and what a costly mistake.

My first thought was, How could he forget? True enough in town, with plenty of traffic, but if you were on a country road with little traffic, it would be quite easy to drift over to the right, and your natural instinct would be to swerve to the right in an emergency. I did that myself a few times when I was driving through a sparsely populated area of England last month. Fortunately, there was no traffic beyond a few rabbits.

Aha! (good work, Nathan)

Gin. Check.
Vermouth. Check.
Olives. Check.
Three glasses. Check. (I'm not greedy, I'm willing to share him with Diva)

I'm ready for my close up, Mr. Clooney...

ok ladies , I am not going to steal your Georgie , I have other fish to fry with my beloved Naveen , however , I do love the old boy , this is an odd odd thing to say about a celeb but he gives off that "decent guy" vibe , unlike some who give off those other dodgey celeb vibes ... you KNOW what I am talking about.

for some reason this grand gesture of his does not suprise me in the least

Indeedy. And that's a big part of what makes him so drool-worthy...

This wasn't first time. I remember some time ago he helped someone - not in a car accident. He did it on an act of kindness to some lucky person.

George has that old Hollywood charm. He kind of reminds me of Cary Grant and Clark Gable.
