About a month ago before I went on my vacation back to England I posted a thread about the various British foods I really, really miss living over in the US. I forgot to mention one of my very favorite desserts..........STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING WITH CUSTARD. This is a simple, inexpensive dessert found just about anywhere. We love it!

During our stay tasted a number of STP with custard in a few places but the very best we had was in a pub near Ludlow in Shropshire. For dinner that evening we had some very good plaice (fish) with new potatoes with fresh cauliflower. The wine before and during the meal was a nice merlot/cabernet blend. Then to top it all of came the best sticky toffee pudding and custard................. It was so good tongue.gif

You're a sadist, you know that? wink.gif

I'm sitting here eating my non-fat pina colada flavored yogurt and wishing it were a real pina colada. *sigh*

You sound like me. Everywhere I went in England in July, if they had sticky toffee pudding on the menu, I ordered it, with mixed success. The best I had was from Marks & Spencer of all places. I had it with their pouring custard and heated it up in the microwave. Delish!

I've made my own and it's quite good, but I'm always searching for something better. The best in the world is supposedly from a hotel restaurant in the Lake District, which is where it was invented. You have to sign a confidentiality agreement if you even see the recipe. I suppose it's better than being killed!

Wish I liked toffee texture, be it hard, soft or sauce. More for you!
