Yes, one of the things this experiment of Rosebud's makes us think about-- and I'm thinking of those of us POL'ers who were
not teens or adults in the 1950's, 1960's (or even the 1970's or 1980's

) is:
* Were we a teenager in the Sixties, how would we have groomed ourselves?
* What clothes would we have chosen for ourselves (from what was available/trendy back then)?
* What high school "clique" would we have fallen into in those days?
How would these have differed from the look and social role we
did in fact "end up in" during our actual high school/collegiate days?
My hunch is, the young woman who cracks up today at Sixties bouffants and cat's-eye glasses as being ungainly and ludicrous... probably would've had the
highest bouffe and sparkliest kitty-cats out there in 1964.
Trends and fads are funny: I looked at photos, circa 1966, of my stepmother's high school. Most of the girls did indeed sport some outrageous hair fashions. Teased, bleached, bouffed, beribboned. And the very stereotypical "mod" cosmetics of that period. But my stepmother just had a gentle, simple chin-length bob, in her natural color, that would "work" very easily today, and she wore very minimal, sensible makeup. "I never was one to jump on all those kooky fashions back then, " she said in the mid-80's.
