It's that time again, Dancing With The Stars will be starting this coming Monday, September 22nd!

There have been doubts about Cloris Leachman because of her age (82) but I think she might surprise a few people. She is young at heart and very spirited, I love her!

scentual
I hate conflicts! I will be going back and forth between Dancing with the Stars and Prison Break.
CHARDKAY
Scentual, you need Tivo!
PerfumeMe
I'll be watching it and taping a PBS special about how baboons cope with stress and the applications to humans. They had a clip on The Today Show and it looks great. Plus I am always a sucker for animal shows.

I do, I do, I do, but I hate conflicts!! mad.gif

I thought DWTS was a disaster - just my opinion. Cloris Leachman, okay, she is a gifted actress/comedian but I am sorry, she hijacked the show with her antics. That was too much for me. Rocco DiSpirito, Jeffrey Ross and Susan Lucci, they were boring. It seems Susan lost a lot of weight, very skinny, no tone on her body. I think it was Len Goodman who said that she need to work on weights to build up her body. I agree. So looks very fragile. Two celebrities will be out this week. My picks are Jeffrey Ross and Cloris Leachman.
scentual
I would like to edit my last post.

It was not Len Goodman who said about the weight, it was Carrie Ann Inaba. Carrie Ann Inaba told Susan Lucci she looked rather frail and should pack on a few pounds to gain more strenth behind her movements.
CHARDKAY
Oh I so agree about Susan Lucci, is that the price of fame? She looks anorexic! Cloris Leachman, even though I love her, did hijack the show and has no dancing ability. She should go, as well as Rocco and Jeffrey whatever his name is!

I thought that Lance Bass was excellent, and Toni Braxton, I adore her. I go online after the show and vote for who ever I liked the best. I don't think that Kim Kardashian will last too long either, but some stay longer because of their fan base.
scentual
Wow, we both agree.

Oh goodness, what about Susan? I was looking her face after her routine and I noticed that she had on too much eye make up. It looked scary. I did not see the whites of her eyes.

She looked like a typical ballroom dancer, loads of makeup and a fake tan. It's "the look." I didn't see any women with natural makeup.

She is a tiny woman, something like five feet tall. I thought her legs looked muscular. She does workout and even sells a pilates machine or some sort of exercise equipment on QVC. She is in her sixties, so I think she looks pretty darned good.

Her problem was she was too nervous and controlled. She needs to pretend she is Erica Kane while she's dancing, I think.

I loved Cloris being silly. She makes the show less "life-or-death."
CHARDKAY
Last night's show with Cloris Leachman was a little over the top. I think she feels that since she is 'mature' she can say or do whatever she likes and people will think it's cute. I thought that she was rude and disrespectful even though the judges were trying to be kind to her. You could even see her mouthing the word "bit** about Carrie Ann when she received her score. I am sorry, but I don't think that was cute at all.

Most of those people work very hard to perfect what dancing talent they have and although I love some humor, CL does not take it seriously at all. It's all a joke to her, or appears to be. She appears quite self-indulgent and self-absorbed to me.
scentual
I agree wholeheartedly with your comment on Cloris Leachman. Her behavior is crass. I applaud her partner to be able to tolerate her. He said she reminds him of his mother. She thinks the show is about her. Sorry, it's not.

Poor Kim. She is pretty but shy (which I find that hard to believe). She needs to let go of her inhibitions and just have fun. She knows how to have fun. Same with Susan Lucci. I think I fell asleep with my eyes open. I don't remember seeing her dance. It didn't amuse me. Too controlling and she admitted that she is a perfectionist.

The setup was interesting. After the couple were announced that they were advancing to the next round, they danced their next routine. It kept the show going.

The rest were good. I am shocked/jealous/envious of Brooke Burns. A mother of 4 kids and recently gave birth 4 months ago. What a body. I wouldn't be surprise if she wounds up being the winner of this season. I think the top 5 might be Toni Braxton, Brooke Burns, Maurice Green, Lance Bass and- a toss up - Misty May Treanor or Warren Sapp (the teddy bear).

Did you notice Cheryl Burke? She gained a little bit of weight.
dawnkana
I get nervous watching Toni Braxton because of her breathing. I hope nothing happens to her because of having to really exert herself (body) for this show.

Yes, Cloris has a rep for being self-centered, but as long as she is entertaining I don't care. I don't have to work or socialize with her. Her former neighbor, Mark Harmon, was on the Bonnie Hunt Show and remarked that she was always walking into his (and wife Pam Dawber's) kitchen unannounced and hinted that she was a bit difficult. Being a gentlemen, he didn't say anything more.

Yes, she called Carrie a b1tch and, the day before, Len a b@stard, but she was kidding. She is known for her potty mouth. The news had a clip from after the show of Cloris with Jeffrey Ross. He made a crack about her having an entourage of nurse, doctor and mortician and she was on the floor laughing. You have to admit that the audience loves her.

Every season they have a couple of people who are in it for laughs, whom no one takes seriously. Remember magician Penn? That black rapper guy? That journalist guy? This year it's Jeffrey Ross and Cloris. As competition gets serious, they'll get voted off. It's called entertainment! Nothing for anyone to get their knickers in a twist over.

Yes, I noticed Cheryl and that blonde, cross-eyed Australian gal had both gained a little weight. Maybe they had a chance to enjoy their time off. I hope so. The weight will come off by the end of the show -- off everybody! I wish everyone would talk about what they eat during this process. Michael Phelps' diet?

Susan Lucci reminded me of Jane Seymour last night. Some people are just better at some dances than others. It seems like a lot of people have problems moving their hips. Rocco was very sexy and could be a dark horse. Same with Ted McGinley. I prefer seeing someone who starts out not so good, becoming better each time, than someone like Lance, who comes out of the gate fantastic.

I wonder who will be going home tonight. Maybe someone without a big fan base. Fan base keeps the not so good dancers in longer.

Mark Harmon is still married to Pam Dawber?

Yes, a potty mouth indeed. ohmy.gif

My knickers are not in a twist. wink.gif

Kym Johnson is the Australian dancer. I thought the same, now the season has started, the dancers will lose the weight.

Probably Cloris Leachman.
CHARDKAY
PerfumeMe, I don't get my knickers in a twist over any television show, just call em like I see em is all. I think CL is trying to take advantage of her age and hoping people will vote for her because of same.
After you described how she is with her neighbors, I am glad she is not one of mine. I wouldn't want her to walk in to my house unannounced and think it was cute.
As far as being a 'potty mouth', since when is that attractive or funny in a woman of any age? It shows a total lack of class. As Scentual said, she is very crass, and I agree wholeheartedly.
Demetrue
I was surprised at Kim K's performance - she is such a gorgeous looking girl that I had assumed she would be in command of her body and be able to dance expressively and well, so I was rather surpised - she truly seemed uncomfortable in her own skin and afraid to own her body. It was an interesting lesson to me that appearances can be deceiving, and that self-confidence goes a long, long way with how one presents oneself.

Beauty cannot take you too far in life. It's what's inside of you that takes you far.

Cloris is back again! laugh.gif Ted was talking about her and said she acts like that whether she is on the show or off. He said "She is always on the edge and you hold your breath wondering what she will do next." I wish she'd take it more seriously, though, to show what elderly people can do. She might surprise us!

Ah, then you agree with us -Chardkay and me. Yes, I wish she'd take it more seriously.
CHARDKAY
Okay, who is going home tonite? I think maybe Kim Kardashian. That girl has NO SENSE OF RHYTHM. I continue to be very surprised by her lack of talent.
scentual
Kim as well or Cloris.

The good dancers were: Brooke Burns, Warren Sapp, Misty May, Toni Braxton and the 18 year old boy, Cody.
PerfumeMe
Kim's bubble butt has gotta go. She has that same languid personality and manner of speaking as Paris Hilton, which I find annoying. It always surprises me at how many "sexy" women turn out not to be. Marilyn supposedly disliked sex. A lot of strippers hate men.

I want Cloris to come back. Here, she finally took her Paso Doble seriously and was criticized for it. I think she has more fans than Kim, so fingers crossed she will stay. I want to see her rumba. She livens up the show because you never know what she will do next.

I like it when they cut to the audience and you see past contestants. Jane Seymour was there last night.
scentual
Did you notice that Cloris had extra air time than the other contestant? When she was backstage with Samantha Harris, she was hamming it up.

Kim's bubble butt - Nearly fell off my seat on that. Pretty gal but no substance.
glorious1
Well............let's face it. Cloris get's an A for popularity, guts and age. Good on her. As for Susan? Gimme a break. Let her stick to her soap operas. She's NOT a dancer!! She'll never be. She has NO passion. As for Kim? Kim is absolutely one of the most beautiful and sexy women in the world..................CANNOT DANCE. Can shake the booty but she won't last long.
PerfumeMe
Hooray! Cloris is safe yet again! I think she will get better with more time and practice.
scentual
Who was more excited when they found out that they were going to the next round - Karina or Rocco?

Yeah, Cloris made it to the next round.

It was interesting to see father and son, waiting who will advance. It was wonderful to see Corky give a big hug and kiss to his son when he was eliminated. Strong love.

Kim was finally eliminated. She looked very cold and very uncomfortable. It is shame, she had an excellent instructor and did not take full advantage to help her out of her shyness. My daughter is very shy and we are thinking to put her in dance class to help her ease out of her shyness. She's been asking to take ballet classes, she wants to be a ballerina. I am trying to steer her into ballroom. She's only 4.

As Heather Mills pointed out when she was on the show, if the dancer is voted off, the instructor doesn't get paid. I imagine that the instructor of the winner must get a bonus.

PerfumeMe, I have just got to ask, what is that in your icon? I have been trying to figure out whether it's a dog with its feet in the air, or what?

It's my ex-boyfriend's greyhound, relaxing on his couch with her feet up after a hard day chasing (and catching) rabbits.
scentual
Oh no ohmy.gif , Kim Kardashian might come back to Dancing with the Stars. Rumor has it Misty May-Treanor might have to leave due to a serious injury that occured on Friday. ABC is tight-lipped about the injury. Today, she will find out if she can continue with the show.

Kim may replace Misty May
PerfumeMe
I heard about that. Well, I hope Kim gets her booty booted yet again if she doesn't pick up the pace.

I have a better idea. Why don't they let the viewers vote who gets to come back. I pick Ted McGinley.

I second Ted McGinley.

Misty May injury is her Achilles Tendon. They don't know if she tore it or ruptured it.

Misty Leaving Dancing with the Stars
CHARDKAY
I would want Ted back as well! Kim can't shake her grooooove thang, her money maker, whatever. It amazes me that she was a willing participant in a sex tape that everyone saw all over the world, but she is SHY??? HELLO???
scentual
My thoughts EXACTLY!! Maybe she became shy because of the tape? Nah.

Well, we will find out tonight. The drama and suspense of ballroom dancing live tonight on Dancing with the Stars.
CHARDKAY
I don't know why Len is so hard on Lance! Makes me want to vote for him and his partner, Lacy. She was on "So You Think You Can Dance" and I love that girl! Her brother actually won the same show the year prior to her being on it.

That idiot Cloris is sabotaging the show again, I am sick to death of her shenanigans. She makes older people look stupid and clown-like! She displays no class or refinement for a woman of her age. Both of my grandmothers were such refined ladies!
glorious1
Kim will ALWAYS be sexy.................but a dancer? NEVER!!!! Why oh why did her Mom never take her to ballet? The base for ALL dance?
PerfumeMe
It's interesting that Misty hurt her ankle while wearing flat shoes in rehearsal. You'd expect all the women to be constantly twisting their ankles with high heels and those complicated moves. I can barely walk in high heels. Usually you snap your Achilles when you don't warm up and stretch enough.

Who decides which dances the couples will do?

It was funny when Toni called it the Vietnamese waltz.

Cloris was hysterical. She really got physical, considering she is fifty years older than many of the others. Her partner choreographs what he thinks she can do. I don't think her wig flying off was planned...! She has great entertainment value but as the others get better, she will be voted off. I hope she gets more work as a result of being on this show. I fear many casting agents think, My God, she's in her 80s, we'll never be able to insure her. She's probably in better shape than many of them. Maybe she will get more seniors to get off their butts and dance, too.
PerfumeMe
I just watched the clip of Misty's Achilles tendon snapping. I was so shocked that you could actually hear it -- sounded like a giant rubber band. Unbelievable.
scentual
I always heard from people saying "I heard a pop when I tore my achilles". I always wanted hear how it sounds. It seemed impossible to hear it but when I saw Misty's rehearsal tape and heard that popping sound, I thought a stage crew dropped something and the mic picked it up. When Tom, the host, said that popping sound you just heard was Misty's tendon snapped, I grabbed my leg and massaged it. I felt so sorry for her.

There was one funny moment with Cloris when Cody did his routine and Samantha asked him if older women has approached him, just when he was about the answer the question, pops in Cloris trying to hit on him. Perfect timing and I laughed.

One question: why Toni Braxton was doing handstands? I thought I was going to see a handstand in the waltz. It seemed weird to do a handstand in her 22 pound dress during her routine.

I have a strange feeling that Brooke Burke (finally got her last night correct) might be out. Not tonight but later in the season. She's too perfect and I don't think she has a huge fan base as compared from last season's Kristie Yamaguchi who was perfect in her routines. Remember Sabrina from the Cheetah Girls. She was perfect and the judges thought she was going to be the winner.

So they could stack the cards against one dancer if they wanted to, knowing their weak spots. Scentual, do you think Cloris could do a waltz? It seems like that wouldn't be too stressful. They gave her the jive because she could be funny, in my opinion.

I think Cloris can do the waltz. It might bring a tear or two from me. The waltz is such a mature, elegant dance and so breathtaking and if she can do it respectfully, she will have a new fan.

I remember with Jerry Springer, he wanted to go as far to the waltz so he can dance with his daughter at her wedding. His daughter was at the audience when he did it and I cried. Boo hoo.
CHARDKAY
I will still be very happy to see Cloris go home. I get so sick of seeing totally self-absorbed people 'perform', who think the whole world is about them, with total disregard for others. If she was not her age, I am sure someone would have said something to her about her disruptive, self-absorbed behavior by now. She is 'tolerated' only because of her age.

After hearing Cloris making the next round, I would say Rocco or Susan will leave.

Sorry for the spoiler.

Cheryl Burke says she's not fat. She does seem a little plump. In her last appearance, it looked like she slimmed down a bit.
