Do you bank with them? They took over WAMU, my bank, and at some point in the future I will be a customer of JP Morgan Chase. WAMU gave me free checking with no minimum deposit, the only reason I bank with them. Do any of you have accounts with JP Morgan Chase? Do you like it? Do you get free checking or interest on checking or do you have to pay a fee for checks or online transactions?
I was thinking of switching to INGdirect.com but I think, last time I looked, that their ATMs are few and far between, which means I'd have to pay a fee anywhere else.
Grrr. What a pain this financial mess is, although I should consider myself lucky if this is all I have to worry about.

I don't feel the least bit bad about WAMU, their CEO, after having been on the job for only 3 weeks was allowed to keep his 17.5 million dollar salary as well as his 7.5 million dollar sign on bonus.
Also, I had my mortgage with them and after my divorce had to pay them $150.00 to remove my husbands name from my mortgage, provide them with copies of a thousand deeds and paperwork and one month later, they sold my mortgage to Wells Fargo, did not change any names and refused to refund my $150.00. I called, wrote letters, spoke with supervisors, you name it, they all promised to follow through and no one did.

My mortgage is with Washington Mutual. I assume that JP Morgan Chase will be taking it over. I hope they don't sell it. Washington Mutual didn't in the more than five years since I refinanced.

I don't have a mortgage. I am more concerned about a no frills checking account.

Have you checked their website for information? A lot of banks offer free checking if you have direct deposit, and don't clog up the teller lines with transactions.

Thanks for that link. Yes, they have free checking with direct deposit or if you use your debit card 5 times a month. Phew!

I bank with chase and have a mortgage with chase. We were thinking of switching banks because Chase is more of a business bank and also we keep getting hit with fees because we have exceeded the transfer limit per month. I think you are allow to transfer 6 times per month. I write a lot of checks. We don't like using the debit card.

We have been toying with the idea to go with ING for quite sometime. Sounds good.

I'll give Chase a few months. But I'm already leaning to just moving everything over to my credit union. I just need to look at their rules/requirements a little more. If they don't refund ATM fees, that could be a deal killer.
