Ladies (and guys if you go there), what lippie have you been wearing? Bought anything new and fabulous lately? Do you change your lipstick shades with the seasons?
I've been wearing MAC lately in MAC Red. It has a nice bluish undertone, which works for my coloring.
Chanel has a shade in their Rouge Allure line called Attitude (a plum), and I'm dying to buy it but at $30 a pop I just can't bring myself to spring for it.

Well, I for one am always up for talking lipstick. Lately I've been wearing Carmindy's lip balm is Sugar Plum. People say it's a dupe of Clinique's Black Honey, but I think Sugar Plum is nicer. The texture and color payoff are great. Other than that I've been using L'Oreal Tender Pink lipstick and Exotic Orchid lipgloss. I'm about to run out of the gloss and I'm panicked because it is discontinued. I need a suibtable replacement, but have not been able to find one.

Always interested in this topic, because lipstick is pretty much the only makeup I wear, reliably, every day, though i do wear blush sometimes and mascara occasionally.
I've been wearing Vincent Longo's lipstain in Baby Boo --- this is a bluish red stain that comes in a little glass jar with a sponge/wand applicator. It's just perfect for me, because I tend to smack my lips together and chew lipcolor off when I'm wearing regular lipstick. This lasts for several hours, and though the color is intense in the bottle, it just looks like your natural lips, but just a little deeper and darker. No shine, no texture, it's a true stain.
I wear Vincent Longo Baby Balm in Amorosa over that for a little extra color and shine -- it's a deep rosy pink. I also have a deeper shade called Madison, which is a beautiful brick red, more or the brown/orange side. These are very sheer lipsticks, more like colored balms, and the one think I don't like about them is that they are very fragile. A few have started breaking when they reach about 1/2 inch. The SA told me I should put them in the refrigerator when I first get them, and this will stop the breakage and "set the wax," as she said.
You used to be able to get Vincent Longo products at Ulta in the DC area, Mary, but I think Ulta has discontinued this line. I picked mine up at Barney's the last time I was in New York.

Neutrogena has some gloss-sticks that are nice (and peppermint flavored).
Nice shades and soft.
I also like their glosses with the wand.
I've tried a few Avon and they were just OK.

Shanghai Express (no personal pic)
Pigalle, and

Normally in the winter, when it is cold and dark and Christmassy, I wear a lot of red lipstick.
Clinique Vintage Red and
MAC Russian Red are two of my favourites, and they get me a lot of compliments too. But now I'm in New Zealand instead of Ireland, so winter does not include Christmas, and was surprisingly warm and sunny most of the time. My red lipstick didn't get worn once over the last six months
These days I am mostly wearing lip gloss. I like
Too Faced Diamond Gloss for its glossiness and scent, but its lasting power is worth squat. And
Boots Liplicious has great lasting power but is way too stick - my hair keeps getting glued to my mouth. But yesterday I finally tried a Too Faced compact set that I bought about a year ago, and the gloss I choose from that one lasted really well and looked great. It was
this set, but it doesn't say exactly what colour or formulation the lip gloss is. I wish I could find out!

I've been wearing Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze in Perpetual Plum. I use Revlon Colorstay lipliner in Mauve first to make sure it doesn't bleed, and then put on a thin coat of gloss.
Other than that, NARS Dolce Vita and Pigalle from the Rapture compact, and Aromaleigh Garland, Infrared, and Impatience.

Pigalle looks really good on you, Five. I like the color, but it's muddy on me. Most Nars lipsticks don't work for me, for some reason. they look gorgeous in the tube and then...meh...on me. The exception is Fire Down Below, but I've got to be in the mood for pigment, baby to wear it - it's powerful.

Sharil, thanks. I find with the Nars lipsticks the colour seems to mute a bit and blend into your skin tones when worn and they do have a lot of muted tones to begin with. Even
Shanghai Express, which is an intense red, does not have a clashing look on me. One exception to that would be
Jungle Red (number 1 in the illustration), named in honour of the colour in
The Women. It is BRIGHT!

I can't wear red lipstick. Sobs.
Strangely dark brown does suit me though I am pale. Very weird.
Really liking Prescriptives lipsticks at the moment Oodles a berry shade and Posh Ginger a brown.
Eyeing the new YSL lipstick but they are £20!!!!
Like the No3 shade which is really like my real lip colour gives a soft nude look on me. For some reason they call it Ulimate Beige but I think its more a peach/pink warm colour.

For someone who has thin lips, I have an awful lot of lipstick. I also like the Neutrogena glosses and lipsticks. I tend to stick to natural, fairly light shades of beigy-pinks and beigy peaches. I have some L'Oreal long-lasting glosses too. I try all kinds of things but not anything too expensive. If there were one thing I could change about my face, it would be to have thicker lips. I have what I call "irish lips", ie. thin <sigh>. And, of course, they get thinner with age .

So last time we went around the ole lipstick carousel I confessed to being a bit of a Lippie stodge , sticking within a certain range of colours due to finicky skin tone blah blah ....
For my next reveal , I am going to simply say this , at least the Irish have something they can call lips ....

Irish lips here, too, Julia. And getting more so each year.
I'd be embarrassed to say the number of lipsticks I own. Like Isabellabird said, always buying (literally!) into the hope of finding *the one.* A futile--but colorful!--little obsession.

What's all this Irish lips business? Irish lips are just lips! I've never heard of that phrase being used to describe thin lips, or any other sort of lip, and find it quite bizarre.
My Irish lips are definitely on the big side. If I eat an apple while wearing lipstick, I get lip prints on my chin!

I have a lot of lipsticks from previous years, MAC's Dubonnet being a favorite, but most lipsticks are just too drying for me now. I have so many in my makeup drawers that mostly just sit. I mainly use gloss with liner, BE is a favorite; both their standard gloss and their Buxom Lips.

Maybe the lips of the Irish diaspora underwent an alteration? And now that you've left the Ould Sod, your lips also will shrink to a thin line?

Hope not, for your sake; maybe it takes a few generations.

Oh! My mother always calls thin lips "German lips". She has always told me she was glad I inherited my father's "French lips" and not her family's thin, German lips.
I guess some of my family members o'er there have lips which are on the thin side...but more than that I notice they're just not really well defined and I think that's just a genetic thing. *shrug*
My father, who was mostly a mix of French and German, had the most well-defined full lips I've ever seen on a man -- and they had such good coloring as well -- a deep plummy pink mix.
I think I got a combo of both of my parents' features, lips included...and I only became a lipstick fiend after I hit the age of thirty five.
When I was younger I wore a lot of brown-based colors. Now...I try to wear rosier colors and some reds, but I notice that that the ones I like best still have a touch of brown deep in the base. They're just more geared to the change in my maturing coloring.
I mostly wear the lipsticks which last forever -- like Outlast and and Revlon's take on that kind of lipstick. If I don't...lipstick doesn't last more than an hour on my lips and it gets on my teeth...no matter how hard I try not to let that happen.

Eh! Probably not really

I just call them that because most of my Irish relatives have thin lips and I've noticed that it's common among Irish-Americans. I and both of my sisters have them.
