Took Lulu to the opening of Beverly Hills Chihuahua at the drive-in last night. The drive-in is the only place they'll let me take my doggie friend with me.

Loved the Americana feeling of the place. I went intending to have a great time (it was also a meetup of the South Bay Chihuahua Lovers group, after all) but had an even better time than planned.

This movie is sweet, lampoonish, and cute. The effects are enchanting. The best part was the segment that included the voice of Placido Domingo. I was rolling. Who writes this stuff!!??? I was laughing, with tears rolling down my cheeks. "Yes, we shake. We shake with Chihuahua Power!." Some writers had a lot of fun with this (probably fueled with some primo agave).

Recommend for pure entertainment value. The light-hearted type. Which is why the drive-in venue was perfecto.

I want to see this movie too.

I have to ask --------- OK - who had the most chi's in their car???????????? biggrin.gif

I heard that most of the dogs were from a Mexico City pound and they have been finding homes for the dogs. Awwww!

I'll wait for this on DVD.

I believe that the greatest number of chis in one car was 4. (How many chihuahuas can you fit in a volkswagon).

So what did Lulu think of the film?

Lulu thought she could have played the leading lady with much more feeling, verve, and innuendo.

I caught her posing in front of the mirror the other day...

laugh.gif definitely! She's Carmen Miranda to BHC's JLo.

(BTW, it was not until after I had fallen in love with her and adopted her that I realized that I, student of Chinese medicine, had settled on a Chihuahua tongue.gif. )

Where does she sit when you take her to the drive-in? Is she a dashboard or rear window living bobblehead doll?

Did she meet any eligible senor chis at the movies?

Why, right on the leather seat, next to me, of course. And she insisted on sharing my hot dog and popcorn.

There was a rather portly viejo strolling about at the South Bay Chihuahua Meetup. He looked dashing in his bowler hat. Unfortunately, I think that for him, the pleasures of the food bowl had long supplanted the delights of amor.

The latter is a given. But how does she see out of the windshield to watch the cinema?

True, she is rather height challenged. (But she's in denial. She'd wear Carmen's platforms if she could get some made.)

She sat up on my lap for portions of the movie, curled up on the seat and listened during other parts. 100 minutes is an eternity for a little Chihuahua...

I don't have to worry about her "finding her bark," however. Sometimes I wish she'd misplace it...

They are very cute, but they are also 3 or 4 pounds of classic ADHD. Kudos to Ms. Lulu for sticking it out for 100 minutes.
