Full Version: Tony Curtis Gets Back At Hollywood...
Perfume of Life > A Civilized Perfume Affair > Talk About The Arts

Tony Curtis has a new tell-all memoir called AMERICAN PRINCE, in which he dishes the dirt on lots of Hollywood figures.

Among other things, he says that Hollywood always overlooked him for its "meatier" acting roles...

Do you agree?

Yeah, well whatever.... I guess he wasn't ambitious enough --- or his agent was lousy.

I was sidetracked by the story on Mickey Rourke's comeback .... He won the Venice Film best actor award for Wrestler. I've
always liked him.

I dislike bitter retrospectives by ex addicts who feel their due wasn't forthcoming. Tony could have played his cards better, then and now.

Well, from the synopsis is has all the promise of another juicy, bitchy tell-all.

Fortunately, not many contemporaries have survived to counter any sniping.

He's very fond of blaming others for damaging him, isn't he? At the same time giving himself a free pass for all the lousy things he did. He comes off as quite the piece of work. I remember an interview years ago when he denounced his daughters for their estrangement from him. What a prince.

A nicer guy with some self-awareness could look back and say, "Despite screwing up at times, I still had a great life. I was lucky."

Here's a vintage term for him that he would understand: a real heel.
Karin
That picture sure shows how handsome he was back in the days.

Bitter, party of one? LOL! It's seriously annoying to me when people, whoever they may be, whine and blame others for their situation instead of taking control of their own lives and acknowledging their own screw-ups. But he was handsome, wasn't he?

I am playing for him the world's smallest violin.
Rufus T. Firefly
I can walk over to his house and tell him about the disapproval he is facing here on POL.
He lives only under less than a mile away from my house. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Maybe he would have had better luck if he had any talent to go along with his looks.
Chenas
He's in the best American comedy of all time, Some Like it Hot, so he should just zip it.

It really is risible that he classes himself with Marlon Brando and Paul Newman.

The best American comedy of all time is It Happened One Night. He was in the second best.

I must say I like Tony Curtis and his wig.
Loved him in " The Great Race" what a movie! I think that was his best. He was sending himself up and Jack Lemmon made just the best funny baddie!

I also love Micky O'Rouke - anyone who loves his dogs so much is not all bad. wink.gif

You mean the greatest American comedy of all time isn't Animal House?
