Today a woman (who knows a lot about perfume) told me:
you should try Apres l'Ondee by Guerlain, I think it is you.
She is not "just" somebody, so I am very curious now. I never had any Guerlain because they were all to much until now, they were to perfumed or not mixing with my chemistry.
So, how do you like this one?
Should I try to get the perfume? Perfumes by Guerlain seem to be more beautiful than the EdT's.

I love it,that aniseed helitrope thing going on. The perfume is discontinued and to be honest could be a sister to L'Heure Bleu,so if it does not work for you Apres may not.
I have both edt and parfum it is the latter where the L'Heure dominates. By the way the play doe note is heliotrope so if you hate it no Arpes.

The perfume is near impossible to find now and very expensive.
You can still find the Edt. I'd start there and see if you like it. It is a light. cool violet. Very nice for spring and summer.

Apres L'Ondee was created before L'Heure Bleue but similar, yet far more gentle. The edt is almost damp smelling truly like the description of a garden after the rain. The parfum, often applauded, is rather uninteresting to me. I own both forms. The edt is far more unusual and worth acquiring. It is a strange violet, rosewood, damp undergrowth smell. Very unique. I have seen it listed as a floral amber and as a fresh floral. It's not really either by modern standards. It has a melancholy soft sadness of the Edwardian Era that I also smell in L'Heure Bleue, Canoe and Quelques Fleurs.

It's not my thing, but I know some people swoon over it. My skin amps that aniseed in an annoying way.

I can't wear L'Heure Bleue, but I can wear Apres L'Ondee. It is utterly lovely and very atmospheric. To me it smells a lot like mimosa: wet, powdery mimosa blossoms after a rain shower.
I don't get nearly as much heliotrope from it as the L'Heure Bleue.

Nadine,
You can read my review of Apres l'Ondee on my blog. If you like iris and powder this would be a great scent for you. I know that you usually like sweet scents - well, Apres l'Ondee is not quite sweet, but it is powdery and can be quite cuddly. You will probably like the anise in it as well. I never tried the parfum, just the EDT and I love it. It's more cool than warm, with the iris and violet notes, and blends well with my skin. The parfum is nearly impossible to find - unless you want to invest hundreds of dollars on eBay, of course...

This is a strangely old fashioned creation. To my nose it has much more in common with the "eaux" of the 19'th century than with modern perfumery. Jicky is far more modern smelling IMO. So I agree with your friend that this is not "perfumed".
I see it the way Victoria does - light, cool violets.

Chilly violets and anise, paper-dry orris and a hint of carnation. It's beautiful and melancholic. Very different to anything else I have smelled. I haver only tried the edt.

Chanel22... you have captured Après l'Ondée perfectly - it is indeed Edwardian & melancholy. This is like theolder, shyer sister of L'Heure Bleue. Oh, how I would love to have tried this in parfum. An achingly beautiful Belle Epoque perfume - not of this century at all.

Interestingly, it is one of the only scents where I can distinctively smell the different stages unfold : anise, violet and powdery iris. Very unusual.

It IS L"Heure Bleue's little sister. It is very nice but I wouldn't say it's swept me away.
