Since discovering FM's L'eau d'hiver I've come to realise that I really like Heliotrope, all that powdery, intoxicating, heaviness of it.
So I've for quite some time been looking for another scent that has a dominant Heliotrope note, but I haven't been very successful; Teint de Neige has too much vanilla, Broadway Nite too much violet...
It seems as if Heliotrope is always mixed with something I don't like, IE peach and violet and I also suppose Heliotrope is something mostly found in orientals, and I'm not an oriental girl.
So, does anyone have any other sugguestions? I'd be eternally thankful!

How about Etro Heliotrope? It's pretty much the pure scent--sweet and almond-y. You can wear it alone, and it's great for layering.

I second Etro Heliotrope. I love that note and can usually spot it in fragrances.
Lots of the classic Guerlains have it L'Heure Bleu,Shalimar,Apres L'Ondee.
Secrete Datura by MP&G
I get it in the middle of SMN Peau d'Espagne extract.
Look for fragrances which have an almond cherry pie smell and that will be heliotrope.

Bourbon French, I've become a fan, makes a heliotrope soliflore.
They also mail free samples (waves to Scentasablyurs)!

Galimard de Galimard....? Must try. I love Heliotrope...it IS very nice. I also like vanilla, so I probably wouldn't notice vanilla slipping in.
I have Heliotrope by Etro, Crown, and Bourbon French. I may have one more, thought I had 4?

LisaCarol, how do you feel about leather? Serge Lutens' Daim Blond has a significant heliotrope note in it, I believe.

I found a bottle of Heliotrope Blanc by Pivier in TKMaxx.
It smells very comforting and feminine. Don't know if it's
still available.

Emporio Armani "She/Elle/Lei" (the classic, golden lone) is my favourite heliotrope.
I love this scent of the purple flower which is called vanilla-flower in German, interestingly.
Etro Heliotrope is also very very nice and soft. Very elegant.

I couldn't help myself, sneeked out early from work and went to Printemps and sprayed! Here's the result;
Right wrist: Etro Heliotrope and I'm not at all sure what to make of it. The first thought when I sprayed it on was "eeeek, syntetic cherry", it made me think of cartoons, Betty Boop in particular, not that I know how she smells but still... However, the drydown is very nice. Someone said it was good for layering, and I would guess this is very true!
Left wrist: Daim Blond, which I like very much, perhaps a little bit too much leather for me... the top notes was somewhat overwhelming, like sticking your head in a new handbag. And weirdly, it doesn't seem to be very longlasting, I sprayed it on two hours ago and now it's almost gone...
I'll continue my testing tomorrow!
And oh, Osmoz lists Heliotrope as one in the notes in Estée Lauder's Private Collection - can anyone confirm?

Last night I sprayed on some Keiko Mercheri Osmanthus. I don't know....but it smelled like it MIGHT have some Heliotrope in it.
All I know is that it DOES last a long time. I may wear it tomorrow. Today I was in the mood for a woody....Un Mediterranee.
