Yes to cocoa or bitter baking chocolate. I like to add lots of kinds of peppers - fresh and dried reconstituted. Cilantro at the end. Tomatillo. Pinto beans rather than kidney beans.

How about you?

Me, too - chocolate, pinto beans rather than kidney, and cilantro is great. Sometimes I serve it with cheese on top, sometimes with sour cream and chopped green onion.

I sometimes use chocolate, sometimes stiir a spoonful of natural peanut butter into the pot. I also like lots of peppers, but DH doesn't, so we have to compromise there.

Kidney beans should be outlawed.

Always chocolate or cocoa powder (unsweetened.) The tiniest dash of cinnamon, in addition to the usual herbs and spices. Cumin and oregano are essential. I like fresh coriander on top at serving time.

Always pinto beans, if I use beans at all.

Not too much tomato, but some.

I thicken it with masa harina, or if I don't have that, regular fine corn meal. It doesn't taste right without it.

Sometimes I put in some chipotle powder in addition to the regular chili powder for a smoky taste.

I usually serve the chili in a bowl, with a fried egg and some shredded cheese on top.

My son has always liked it sweet and mild.
I add a pinch of cinnamon, a little brown sugar, and a plop of maple syrup.
It's actually quite tasty, and not all that sweet.
He also likes it served over spaghetti, and if we are eating it that way, then I nix the beans.
When I use beans, I have no problem with using kidney beans. We eat tons of them down here, and it still tastes fantastic, imho.

Huh! I thought my mother was the only person who ate chili on spaghetti!
SandraL
Isn't that Cincinnati-style? Yup.

I like a white kidney bean and black bean combo, lots of serrano chile, mexican oregano and cumin lots of hot dried chillies and chipotle. I started to add baby corn. I often finish with fresh salsa, shredded cheddar or crumbled feta, creme fraiche, cilantro, crumbled bacon, and chopped avocado or guacamole. black bean and romano is a good
bean combo, if I use red kidneys I have to do them from scatch with 2 rinses.
