I got my Spring/Summer brochure from Penhaligon's through the post today and noticed that they have increased their prices by a ridiculous amount.
The men's 50ml edts have gone up from £35 to £45 and the 200ml shower gels have gone up from £15 to £20. I am going to send them an email to ask how they can justify such large price increases.
I don't know how much the prices have gone up in USA.
I have checked their website and it also shows the new prices.

YE-OW! I just checked the American prices and they have gone up too! I am pretty sure the former price for small bottle was $65, now it is $85!!!!
Ca-ray-zee! Still I know I'll pay it...isn't that awful? I just love their scents, esp. Hammam Bouquet and English Fern and Ellenisia.

Thanks for checking Ellen. Hammam Bouquet has been one of my staples for years and like yourself, I will continue buying it. But I won't be happy having to pay those prices.
I have sent an email to them asking why the increase is so large. If and when they reply, I will post it on here.

OUCH! Methinks they are scared that gas/petrol will out-race them so they are making a preemptory strike to stay ahead price-wise.

Both Penhaligon and Floris have raised their prices significantly! Do we blaim oil prices or greed?

Greed, I am afraid. I have been contemplating the purchase of either Blenheim Bouquet or Raquets formula. I cannot help but notice my friend's affinity for Hamman Bouquet and now I am curious. Is it that much better than the two I mentioned? Any contrasting advice will be appreciated!

Ikkito, Hammam Bouquet is in a class of it's own It's warm and balsamic with a rich heart. It oozes class and there is nothing else on the market to compare it with.
I agree with the comments about greed being the motivating factor.
Franco, well timed!

Barry, i actually didn't know about this until your post.
i think the last time they had a price increase it was about 2 years ago. If the quality is still there thats fine, but when it starts to weaken then you have a problem. wow candles went up $10.oo ... they burn for 30 hours you are better off buying l'artisan candles at 60 hours for $50.00

I have never actually bought a candle from Penhaligon's. I like wear my scents but not sure about having a candle in exacly the same scent. I think that my sillage takes care of that bit. To be honest Franco, I have never tried a candle from L'Artisan, I have always used Diptyque...bowing my head in shame.

Lord Meni's Penhaligon stash--I just received a copy of what he has available at incredibly low prices. I so wanted some more English Fern and Bluebell and he had plenty available.
If you are the least bit interested in Penhaligon at a fantastic price, check out his offer.
THANK YOU LORD MENI!

I'm sorry to hear Penhaligon's price have gone up. All it means it I am unlikely to bother sending for all their samples, and even less likely to purchase their perfumes. I love Artemisia. Bluebell does not suit me, there are others I would like to have tried (think I might have tried Cabotine Rose) - still, it the company is fast losing my interest.

Jicky--I share your feelings about Penhaligon.
I know of a Cabotine Rose which is by Gres. I have Cabotine Green. PM me if you would like a decant--my pleasure.

Barry what l'artisan does nicely is that they differenciate there candles enough where they compliment there fragrances nicely

Thanks Franco. I will consider getting one when I am down in London. They don't sell them up here in Yorkshire.

I pulled out my Penhaligon Christmas 1997 price list. I think you may be as surprised as I. A 100ml spray of Violetta was $88, now it is $90. Cornubia was the new fragrance that season, it was priced at $99 which has since been reduced to $90. So, for the ladies range, we can't complain. Yes, the new fragrance sell for more. The guys haven't been so lucky though. Blenheim Bouquet, 100ml was $77, now $90. Quercus, 100ml cologne was $61, now $90. What is sad is that the range of items has been reduced. In 1997 Penhaligon offered 1/2 oz extraits of all the fragrances including the men's and 200ml and even 500ml bottles were available for the men's and unisex edts. A 500ml splash bottle of Blenheim Bouquet was only $174 in 1997! A 500ml edt splash of English Fern was only $150!

Thanks for the comparisons chanel22. I have one of the old and beautiful catalogues too. I actually used to wear the Hammam Bouquet in the extract form.

Thanks Prince Barry, I will give Hamman Bouquet a shot when I vacation soon! My second question is, are the 200 ml bottle splahes also a spray? Thanks for any help!
Prince Barry

I think the 200ml bottles are only splashes. The largest spray they do is the 100ml. I find that the 100ml is plenty big enough.
