I've decided that this week I will wear only those scents in my collection that I have purchased in drugstores. Meaning that is the only place you are likely to find them for sale. No high end, no niche, just drugstore. Why? Just for fun. Also to reinforce to myself that even before I knew what a niche fragrance was, I still had pretty good taste.
The ones I'm planning to wear during the week are: Jaclyn Smith's California parfum spray(today's SOTD), Bonne Bell Skin Musk perfume oil, Maja edt, Coty Wild Orange Blossom (actually from Big Lots, but it still counts), and maybe 4711.
Feel free to join in if you, too, have a drugstore collection sitting sadly off by itself in a corner somewhere. You loved them once, maybe they are worth another fling?

A - I was thinking of doing that with my Avon fragrances. I have a couple of them...and I so rarely wear them, anymore.
Let's see...there's Candid, Millenium, Natori, Women of Earth...and Mark's Pink Hollywood.
Would it be OK if I wore those for the rest of the week? I don't have all that many from the drug store.

That's a fun idea. I just stumbled upon a bottle of Truly Lace by Coty in a box lot of perfumes and the cap smelled nice to me. Or maybe I was overtired. :-) I may give it a whirl later this week. But it's too late for today, as I'm already wearing Cuir Beluga -- FAR from a drugstore scent!!

Sure, let's include Avon. I have a couple of those, too, that have been sadly neglected in my quest for the Next Big Thing. Two I think I'll include are Hollywood Pink and a single floral Lilac in oil form that Avon came out with quite a few years ago. The rest of my Avons are buried so deep in my trove that I may not have time this week to dig them out.

Well, I just showered off the Teint de Neige...and applied Natori.
It's powdery, but subtly so...and quite a feminine, pink scent.
It's a nice walk down memory lane for me. :-)

Oh, I am so in! I had already drenched myself in Sand & Sable before I saw this thread. I love Maja, and Coty Wild Orange Blossom, too. What else? Maybe Jontue, maybe Enjoli. Must go see what calls to me...

I want to play, too!
Today I'll wear Imprevu.
I have plenty of Avons to choose from, both discontinued and current, like
Women of Earth (an old fave)
Sparkling Sugar
Sunrise
Dolce Aura
Incandessence
Peach Soft Musk
Vibrant Orchid (one of the more obscure ones)
Victorian Luxuries (both ancient and obscure)
Velvet Imari (a special personal favorite of mine probably best saved for evening wear)
Current Avons include Dreamlife, Always, Extraordinary, Summer White, and Rare Gold.
They are all nice frags, but I don't wear them much anymore. It will be fun to revisit them this week.

Why what a coincidence! Today in Winners I tested some drugstore overflow stock, Canoe by Dana. It's better than I remembered it and it came with a soap for $8.99. Didn't buy it but it's a very respectable fougère and I could cave during the week.

Firstly, I am in envy of all who own Imprevu - I consider this a high end perfume as it is so hard to find now, and it is truly such a classic that should never have been removed from our shelves.
I have three in the range I think you're talking about. I'll list their notes:
1. Chantilly - Dana - Oriental - 1941
Notes: sandalwood, moss, and orange blossom
2. Rapture - Avon - Fruity floral chypre - 1974 (very hard to come by)
Notes: Ylang ylang, jasmine, adehydes, peach notes, oakmoss, patchouli, tarragon, sage, cardarmon. Myrhh, olibanum, vanilla.
3. Soie Rouge - Avon, commissioned by Creatifs (hard to buy too)
Notes: Fresh slightly green top note, rose, lily of the valley, jasmine, ylang ylang, Warm woody Base: Patchouli, vetiver, amber, oakmoss musk
Really the only one of the above readily available is Chantilly. So, an oriental, a floral fruity and a green. Nice variety.
After reading the above I am convinced I lOVE oakmoss.
Oh I could count my rexona satin silk deodorant???

Well...I found three of what I consider to be 'drug store' scents:
Nokomis, Fire and Ice, and Dulce Vanilla.
I'm not sure if the Nokomis is still good...and the Dulce Vanilla kinda makes me queasy. It's that caramel kinda note.
I know that the drug stores and Wal-Mart and Target sell scents like Shalimar and other fragrances I think of as designer fragrances...but when I think of 'drug store' scents...I think of Coty and Revlon and Max Factor -- those brands.
And...I really don't have a lot of those.
I think I'll go with Avon today...again... :-)

Reading what everyone is wearing has jogged my memory about two more drugstore 'fumes in my collection - Nokomis, mentioned by Nubelia, and how could I forget the often-maligned Toujours Moi? I may not have enough days left this week to wear them all! (pity......)
