Hi Guys
I am on a five year overdue diet - aiming to lose three stone in the next year.
Most of the time, I fell fine but I have the odd moment when my body which has been used to MCD's, KFC, hi crappy carbs etc feels very faint and lacking in energy. Can anyone suggest any emergency food tips which are good for blood sugar levels which arent high in calories ? Thanks

What kind of diet are you on?

I say only one thing: low GI. Takes a while to get used to it though, but once you are, fast carbohydrates makes you feel sick.

Good advice from FTR and LisaCarol. I also have a tendency to blood sugar swings, and I find that it's really important never to take caffeine on an empty stomach or with high GI carbs. The crash is terrible for me unless I've had some protein. Also, if you can predict your crash times, make a point of having a protein snack (an egg is great) about 30 minutes before it hits. That can prevent it, which is much better than trying to eat something after you've already slumped. The junk is hard to resist when you feel crummy.

I have really bad hypoglycemia and reactive hypoglycemia.
I have to eat any carb with some protein/fat or it wreaks havoc with me.
If you need somethign "quick" and to have handy, the dark chocolate covered almonds would be the best of both...and both are fairly healthy. Of course, you eat only a few to bring up your glucose levels slowly.
As far as low-calorie, vegetables will bring up your glucose levels very slowly, they are wonderful for you and healthy....but you will be hungry fairly quickly again. You can keep baby carrots with you, apple slices, celery sticks, etc. ...good to tide you over till you can make it to a full meal.

Thanks guys
The reason Ive asked is that depite the punds coming off and doing really well, I have had a few really shaky ' Im gonna pass out' moments which I must totally avoid from now on ! Thanks for all your suggestions......this is a hard task - Its like being Presley in his fried peanut butter and banana phase, jumping in a Tardis and meeting Gillian McKeith and an army of fruit eating colonic irrigating aliens - its a really huge jump !
